Pasta Fix @ Capers Italian Pasta & Pizzeria

Gonna do this entry as quick as possible as almost time for me to hit the sack as I have to wake up early tomorrow morning to settle some staff issue again.

Had a sudden crave for pasta this afternoon so I asked if Jia is willing to go out for dinner with me. She asked where I wanted to have dinner. Told her that I am craving for pasta so she invited Eldie and Jenny along to Capers Italian Pasta & Pizzeria. Jia picked me up from the office sometime around 7:00p.m. coz I felt lazy to drive after a long and tiring day at work. Jenny was already waiting for us outside Thann Sanctuary when we arrived. There weren’t much patrons when we arrived. We had a “cubicle” all to ourselves coz there were about 6 of us altogether.

As usual, you’ll see Missy Jia playing away with her iPhone. And that’s Jenny besides her.

While they were busy ordering food from the menu, I was busy snapping pictures of their menu. Hahaha … Not that I wanted to “steal” any business idea, but solely for the purpose of my blog. When you took a picture of a food, you must know the full name of the dish, right? Hahaha …

Let’s get into the main point, shall we? Let’s hope you are not starving at this hour …

Capers House Special | B$11.80

“Chicken, pepperoni, feta cheese, pineapples and sweet red pepper oregano, cracked black pepper with Pomodoro sauce.”

The pizza base was dry, burnt and hard to me. But the fillings of the pizza were kinda good.

Capers Spicy Barbeque Beef Bacon Penne | B$10.80

“Penne pasta sauteed with fresh garlic tossed with beef bacon strips, fruity barbeque sauce and mozzarella cheese.”

Penne was cooked al dente but it was extremely spicy.

Fettuccine Carbonara | B$8.80

“Fettuccine cooked with creamy egg sauce and beef bacon strips.”

One of my personal favorites among all the food we ordered.

Penne Lamb Shank | B$18.00

“Penne pasta sauteed with garlic, topped with boneless lamb shank milanese.”

Boneless lamb shank? Doesn’t look like it in the picture. Good but a bit way too salty.

Linguine Al Funghi | B$9.80

“Linguine pasta sauteed with fresh mushrooms, parsley, garlic, olive oil and parmesan.”

One of my favorites too! Loved the mushrooms and the creamy sauce!

Fettuccine Marinara | B$12.80

“Fettuccine pasta with fresh tomato, bell pepper, squids, snappers, clams and seafood sauce.”

This was a big disappointment, all of us rejected it.

Creamy Cortaccio | B$13.80

“Linguine pasta oven baked with fresh green wipped mussels, baby clams, prawn, squid with cream sauce.”

Everyone said this was nice. I think Capers can cook better linguine than their fettuccine. I liked all their pasta dish made of linguine.

Spinach Ravioli

Ravioli stuffed with spinach as fillings. It was so nice but the filling was slightly too salty. This is the first thing that we ordered but it was one of the last that came.

A plate is not enough for all of us, so we ordered for a second plate.

Can imagine how glutton we all are! Hahaha .. xD

Fettuccine Carbonara Al Pollo | B$9.80

“Fettuccine carbonara with creamy egg sauce with chicken.”

Liked Fettuccine Carbonara better than this.

Chicken Honey Garlic Pizza | B$9.80

“10 inch garlic pizza bread topped with chicken and honey, with mozzarella and sesame seed.”

Good, but too much honey and no slightest hint of garlic taste.

If you are wondering why are we ordering for more than 6 persons, Capers had been doing this Eat All You Can since years ago for B$14.80 per person. But of course, there are limitations. Only those listed on their Pasta and Pizza menu are allowed to be ordered or they’ll charge you ala carte price if you order outside the limitations. So if you had a pasta craving like I did yesterday, Capers is definitely the place for you to fix your cravings without burning your wallet! You know how expensive Italian cuisine could be.

Review: Tony Moly Natural Pulp Essence Sheet Mask Tea Tree

Gosh! I have too many sheet masks which I bought The Face Shop, Holika Holika, Etude House and Tony Moly. And not forgetting to mention that I still have boxes of sheet masks from Laneige and My Beauty Diary. Wonder when I’ll be able to finish them. I have not started using the new products that I got recently apart from Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Oil-Free Cleanser. I am extremely in love with the product. I shall review about the product soon, so please stay tune.

A reader of my blog once asked me if I have been using any new product lately. As a matter of fact, I do and there were quite a few of them actually. But unfortunately, they were reject products to me. And the sad thing was that they don’t come cheap. One of them is from Clinique and the other one is a Biotherm product. I shall do an entry of the new skincare products which I have bought some time soon. Gotta wait for my mom to come back home with all the Laneige skincare goodies which Sister got for me from Seoul. *squeals with excitement*

Okay, let’s not get carried away with what’s not relevant with today’s topic. Used one of the sheet masks which I got from one of the hauls few months back. I have given away a few to Jia especially those from Missha and another one was from Tony Moly. Missha products irritates my skin very badly. No idea why, probably the alcohol content is too strong for my skin.

My skin hasn’t been at it’s best condition for the past couple of weeks ever since I started using Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector. My skin excreted more sebum than usual compared to the time when I was using Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum+. Even my colleagues can see that my skin is oilier than usual. They asked me what happened to my skin. Told them I have also realized the same problem and it could be due to the new Clinique product that I was using. Both the Shiseido and Clinique ones work the same. They were both serum but Clinique one is more oil based while the Shiseido one is more liquid based.

So, I waited for a couple of weeks before my skin showed slight improvement before I resume with my usual skincare regime. My Sister advised me to stop all skincare regime when my skin is not at it’s best condition. This is so that the pores will not be clogged further and allows the skin to breathe and recovers on it’s own. As usual, I would deep cleanse my skin with Kose Seikisho Perfect Cleansing Oil and Kose Seikisho Exfoliating Massage Gel followed by Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Oil-Free Cleanser.

Tea Tree is famous for it’s anti-trouble and anti-bacteria properties, which helps to keep the skin clean and clear, free from troubles and soothe easily irritated skin. True enough, it did soothe my troubled skin. No slightest hint of irritation throughout the application. The scent was like the usual Tea Tree solution which you used to soothe growing acne or blemish. It doesn’t smell wonderful but not bad either. The scent is still acceptable for me.

The sheet mask was still wet when I removed it from my face after 20 minutes. And I patted the remaining essence onto my skin before applying the rest of my skincare products. It did felt a bit sticky after you patted the remaining essence onto the skin but they get absorbed pretty quickly. And what I truly, madly, deeply in love with Tony Moly Natural Pulp Essence range of sheet mask was that they fitted perfectly on my face and the essence doesn’t drip like some other brands of sheet mask does.

1. Scent is acceptable, not overwhelming with fragrance.
2. Soothe my troubled skin.
3. No sign of irritation throughout application.
4. Affordable and yet good.

None that I could think of.

Cooking Diary Day #10

Can’t believe that it’s already more than a week since I started cooking for myself and dad. Started to get the hang of cooking but then I still suck at cooking vegetables. Hahaha … They tasted raw to me all the time. But colleagues complimented about my Soy Sauce Chicken Stew and Vegetarian Mock Abalone with Apricot Mushroom and Deep Fried Puffy Tofu. Not that I wanna boast about them but I think they were nice too!

I cooked one of Andrea’s favorite food today – 3 Eggs Bittergourd. If you are wondering what this is, it’s bittergourd mixed with three different types of eggs – fresh eggs, salted eggs and century eggs. Learnt the existence of this recipe when we had group reunion gathering back in Miri last May. Andrea said it’s her personal favorite. I cooked something similar too the other day but minus the century eggs. I cooked this the other day.

Let me show you my end results for my today’s cooking. I cooked two different versions of 3 Eggs Bittergourd – omelette and scrambled.

Omelette version

Scrambled version

The reason why I had two versions was that most of the bittergourds in my house fridge had ripen. And they were too many of them. It’s hard to cook in omelette style in bulk coz you have to constantly watch the fire so that they don’t get burnt. I don’t wanna get teased for another burnt omelette again, hence the scrambled version. Hahaha .. I brought the scrambled version to work while I left the omelette version for my dad.

As I am not a big fan of bittergourd, I cooked myself Long Beans Omelette. They looked better than the previous one. Hahaha …

Cooking Diary Day #9

Good morning!

I have slept for 8 hours today and I am still feeling all exhausted and sleepy. It’s one or two hours more than my usual sleeping hours per day. Perhaps the more hours you slept, the more sleepy and tired you felt? Hahaha …

As usual, I woke up early to cook lunch for myself and dad. I think I’ll have to wake up even earlier tomorrow morning to wash my car. It’s full of mud stains as it had been pouring heavily almost every day. Mom told me to wash the car as often as I could or else the stains will get into the car paint. Okay, noted!

I am a full vegan on the first and fifteenth day of every month in the lunar calendar. It’s the fifteenth day of lunar month October today, so I cooked with no meat and shallot.

Vegetarian Mock Abalone with Apricot Mushroom and Deep Fried Puffy Tofu

French Beans with Mushroom

Not sure how I should explain this, kinda raw to me. Told my dad to warm it up later at lunch coz they tasted like raw to me.

Cooking Diary Day #8 (Dinner)

Cooked dinner after coming home from work just now coz I don’t wanna eat canned Minced Pork Paste.

Had Steamed Silken Tofu with Minced Pork and Century Eggs!

They looked a bit hideous in the picture. Hahaha …

Taste wise, it’s still acceptable but wondered why is the silken tofu tasted a bit sour.
