Hello there!
Going to be doing a hotel review on Fraser Place, Melbourne today. The whole family stayed at Fraser Place on our last two days of our stay in Australia after flying back from our 4D3N stay at Gold Coast. At first, Sister intended to book us a Family Room at Arrow On Swanston but I told her not to since Fraser Place is offering a deal at Agoda whereby you get to stay in a Studio Deluxe at the price of AUD$130 per night. The price at Arrow On Swanston back then was about the same as the one offered by Fraser Place.
If you were given the option to choose, I am pretty sure that you would go for a 5 stars serviced apartment instead of a 3.5 stars one. In actual fact, we did not book our rooms via Agoda this time round since Sister told me that she could try checking with Fraser sales department if they could offer her a better deal if she goes to them directly. But I think the price were about the same offered on Agoda in the end. Slightly cheaper, but not much difference.
Upon reaching Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport from Gold Coast, we took Skybus Airport – City transfer. It will bring us to Southern Cross Station whereby all passengers have to get down and check-in to the hotel transfer kiosk so that they could arrange Skybus drivers to bring us to our pre-booked hotel accomodation. The journey from Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport to Southern Cross Station took about 20 minutes. And from Southern Cross Station to Fraser Place is roughly about 10 to 15 minutes because the driver had to drop some other passengers at other hotels on the way. We were the last two groups of passengers to get down the bus.

During check-in, reception area of Fraser Place, Melbourne. The reception area was rather small in my opinion.
We arrived at Fraser Place at about noon time. We checked in but were not allowed to go to our rooms because they were not ready yet. Standard check-in time is 2:00p.m. in the afternoon so we left our luggage with the concierge service and headed out for lunch. Came back to the hotel at about 4:00p.m. in the afternoon to get freshened up before going out for dinner.

The general appearance of Fraser Place, Melbourne. It’s located at Exploration Lane. The building was tall enough which you could spot from afar if you are around the area. It consisted of 112 serviced furnished apartments. There were roughly about 5 units on each floor. We were put on the seventh floor throughout our stay, if I am not mistaken. Sister and I got Studio Executive while parents stayed in Studio Deluxe. We were still on the same floor, just different room concepts.
So, now let me show you the pictures I took of the room. I am only going to show the room pictures of Studio Executive, since that’s where I am staying.

A study and dining table were also provided in Studio Executive.

Fully equipped kitchenette minus laundry and dryer machines. Eating utensils were extremely complete. And a small bottle of dish wash liquid was provided as well rather than the sachet dish wash liquid provided by Silverton Apartments and chargeable if requesting for extra.

The room is clean and spacious for two persons. But the bathroom is a bit small in my opinion. The bed is super comfortable unlike the ones at Silverton Apartment whereby all you felt was spring on the mattress. Air-condition was provided as well. And for those of you who are using iPhone, no fret on bringing universal adapter for battery charging as they provided a clock dock at the side of the bed which you could charge your phone directly. But unfortunately, it’s not applicable for iPhone 5 but iPhone 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S. Despite that our room is located right in front of the elevator, it wasn’t noisy at night when we were sleeping.
When in comes to television channel watching, be sure that you fully understood the rules and regulations. During our stay at Fraser Place, my dad watched a few movies shown on the TV channel. As he is not English literate and doesn’t know that some channels on FOXTEL are chargeable, he did not switch to other channels. And during checkout, we were surprised when the receptionist told us that we have an outstanding AUD$24.95 of TV bill. Hahaha …. So, both Sister and I roughly guessed that my dad must have watched about 4 to 5 movies during our 2 nights stay.
In overall, I am extremely satisfied with the services provided by Fraser Place, Melbourne. Location was ideal as it is in within walking distance to the town centre. But throughout our stay, we hung around La Trobe, Little Lonsdale Street and Swanston Street the most for shopping. There is a Chinatown nearby Fraser Place too but we did not go there. In terms of location, there is nothing you could complain about. And if you are hungry during midnight, there is a Malaysian cuisine restaurant just round the corner and it’s called Laksa Bar. Majority people came with the mindset that staying at Fraser Place is expensive, but I would say it depends on timing. If you book early, the rate would be better. If I were to return to Melbourne for another holiday trip, I wouldn’t mind staying at Fraser Place again.
