Review: Missha Speedy Solution Nose Pore Cleaning Patch

As some of you may know, I am so deeply obsessed with nose patches for quite some time now after my experience with Tony Moly Tea Tree Nose Pack. Ing advised not to use too much of these nose patches as they are prone to thin out the most outer layer of our skin and they will damage our skin over time. However, the BA at Elizabeth Arden told me that it’s okay to use nose patch as long as you don’t leave it on your nose for too long. 10 – 15 minutes is more than enough.

When I was wandering around The Mall last Sunday, I walked into Missha store. I rarely go there anymore as majority of their skincare products do not work well with my skin. They usually gives me irritation but surprisingly, Missha products received lots of positive comments. Every time I tried their facial sheet masks, they irritated my skin rather badly. And I wouldn’t leave it on my skin for more than one minute when it happens. Unfortunately, I don’t think Missha Speedy Solution Nose Cleaning Patch is good for me as well.

As usual, majority Korean brand nose patches only came with English language descriptions. But it doesn’t matter since the direction of use of nose patches are more or less the same for all brands.

Nose patches designs are more or less the same for all brands. The only differences are the thickness and the scent of these nose patches. In terms of the scent, there wasn’t any secret as far as I remembered. Nose patches are generally very easy to use. Whenever I intended to use nose patches, I would use Laneige Blackhead Melting Gel or Kose Seikisho Exfoliating Massage Gel beforehand so that the blackheads would come off easily later when peeling off the patch. However during the time when I used Missha Speedy Solution Nose Pore Cleaning Patch, there wasn’t any blackhead extracted when the patch was peeled off compared to my experience with Tony Moly Tea Tree Nose Pack, The Face Shop New Zealand Volcanic Clay Blackhead Aloe Nose Strip or Tony Moly Egg Pore Nose Pack. Only a couple of whiteheads extracted in the process. Was quite disappointed with this product coz majority nose patches which I have tried before seems to work well but not this. Looks like Missha products were not meant for my skin.

Review: The Face Shop Essential Mask Sheet Hyaluronic Acid

It’s been a while since I blogged about facial sheet masks. Ever since I had my regular beauty facial session at Elizabeth Arden, I don’t rely much on facial sheet masks anymore. But I have still quite a lot of them in my skincare stash drawer. I have another two facial sheet masks which I have yet reviewed about – SexyLook Pure White Radiance Duo Lifting Mask and Shiseido White Lucent Power Brightening Mask. They shall be up soon, so stay tune if you are interested. Anyways, today I am gonna review about The Face Shop Essential Mask Sheet Hyaluronic Acid which I bought from The Face Shop a couple of months ago. I left them in the fridge for quite some time before I decided that I am gonna use it yesterday evening when I came home from work.

As you all may know, Hyaluronic Acid is one famous ingredients in skincare products when it comes to giving moisturizing effect. I first got to know about Hyaluronic Acid from Tony Moly, if I am not mistaken. Loved the effect with Hyaluronic Acid but then some brands don’t give the effect as promised. Honestly speaking, I am not at all satisfied with The Face Shop Essential Mask Sheet Hyaluronic Acid. First of all, when I unsealed the packaging, the sheet mask doesn’t come out as dripping wet with essence. As a matter of fact, it’s quite dry. I can only feel a little bit of wetness but not as wet as compared to their Real Nature Mask range.

And the fragrance of the sheet mask is a put off. The fragrance which I smelled is exactly the same like Davidoff Cool Water Woman. Imagine you have your perfume sprayed all over your face, that’s what I experienced when I was using the sheet mask yesterday evening. And worst of all, I hate the cutting pattern of the mask. It doesn’t fit onto my face at all. I think it was designed for users with larger face mass. The hole which they made for the mouth area is more than enough to fit another one and a half of my mouth. But I could still feel that my skin was slightly moisturized after using the facial sheet mask. Unfortunately, the effect was extremely temporary and it could only last for a night.

1. Skin felt a little bit moisturized.

1. Horrible cutting, too big for my face.
2. Fragrance was a bit put off, felt like perfume was sprayed all over the face.
3. The sheet mask doesn’t come dripping wet with essence when unsealed the packaging.

Review: Savy’s Brasserie, Mabohai

Good morning!

I had previously blogged and reviewed about Savy’s Brasserie in Bandar and today I have came up with another review about their other branch in Mabohai which was opened more than half a year ago. I have always wanted to try out their new branch after a satisfactory lunch meal at Bandar branch previously. As the food pricings at Savy’s Brasserie are steep, it’s quite hard for me to summon any food companion. But since I wanted to buy some cantaloupes from Supa Save for a potluck dinner, I decided to have dinner on my own at Savy’s Brasserie, Mabohai.

At first, I have no idea of the existence of the other branch until when I found out that majority readers had been searching with the keywords of “Savy’s Brasserie Mabohai” on Google and they were linked to my blog. I thought there must be some mistakes going on coz as far as I knew, there was only one branch – which is the one in town centre. Until when I visited Savy’s Brasserie in Bandar for the time, their waiter informed me that their management had just opened another branch at Mabohai Shopping Complex.

The design of the restaurant is more contemporary compared to their main branch, which has more of an Italian restaurant ambiance.

And since the place is not fully packed, I get to choose my own seating and I chose the window seating which I can have a look at the “outside scenery”.

Menu as table mat.

Without further ado, let me show you what I had for dinner yesterday evening.

Fresh Watermelon Juice | B$3.50

Ordered myself a glass of freshly squeezed watermelon juice. The juice wasn’t very sweet so assumed that they do not put too much sugar syrup and it is really squeezed from a fresh watermelon. Liked the design of the glass, so sleek and shiny!

Creamy Fettuccine Carbonara | B$18.00

Was surprised to see the portion when this was served in front of me by a waiter. Majority pasta was served on a plate but this one came in a bowl. It came with sauteed shrimps, mushrooms and Parmesan shavings. There were six pieces of shrimps altogether in the pasta. Two of them were big in size and the remaining four were medium sized. The shrimps were fresh enough as they don’t taste rubbery to me. Button mushrooms portion was generous enough as well with a reasonable portion of Parmesan shavings. The pasta sauce itself was creamy enough but doesn’t make you feel icky after having a whole bowl of it. Pasta was cooked al-dente. In overall, I think the pasta is perfect. But of course in terms of price wise, it’s a bit steep. But it’s not that you eat it as your staple food everyday.

Savy’s Brasserie serves mocktail as well, if you are interested. It looked like they have a different menu every month.

When I first visited the main branch in the town centre, I had a set lunch meal which comprised of an appetizer, main course and dessert. I inquired one of the waitress yesterday if they have the same deal. She said they do have set meal deal but they don’t do it every day but only on every Friday evening. A dinner set meal for B$18 which comprises of an appetizer, main course and dessert. And one good thing is that there is no extra 10% service charge on the total bill. And if you wish to have a try on their food, why not try their set dinner meal. I think they were priced quite reasonable.

Breakfast – Home Fried Banana Fritters

Woah! I must be bored enough to be doing three blog posts in a day.

Anyways, decided to upload this picture today coz it’s once in a blue moon that my mom decided to make banana fritters. My mom has a weak mouth gum whereby she gets ulcers easily even though she just had a few slices of grilled fish fillets. So when she told me that she was thinking of making banana fritters yesterday evening, I thought she was only kidding. But I woke up with a baking tray full of banana fritters on the dining table this morning. And after she had her share of banana fritters, she swallowed two tablets of Nutrilite Natural B Complex. Hahaha … xD

Joked that her banana fritters looked more like pancakes! Hahaha … xD

Review: Fraser Place, Melbourne

Hello there!

Going to be doing a hotel review on Fraser Place, Melbourne today. The whole family stayed at Fraser Place on our last two days of our stay in Australia after flying back from our 4D3N stay at Gold Coast. At first, Sister intended to book us a Family Room at Arrow On Swanston but I told her not to since Fraser Place is offering a deal at Agoda whereby you get to stay in a Studio Deluxe at the price of AUD$130 per night. The price at Arrow On Swanston back then was about the same as the one offered by Fraser Place.

If you were given the option to choose, I am pretty sure that you would go for a 5 stars serviced apartment instead of a 3.5 stars one. In actual fact, we did not book our rooms via Agoda this time round since Sister told me that she could try checking with Fraser sales department if they could offer her a better deal if she goes to them directly. But I think the price were about the same offered on Agoda in the end. Slightly cheaper, but not much difference.

Upon reaching Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport from Gold Coast, we took Skybus Airport – City transfer. It will bring us to Southern Cross Station whereby all passengers have to get down and check-in to the hotel transfer kiosk so that they could arrange Skybus drivers to bring us to our pre-booked hotel accomodation. The journey from Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport to Southern Cross Station took about 20 minutes. And from Southern Cross Station to Fraser Place is roughly about 10 to 15 minutes because the driver had to drop some other passengers at other hotels on the way. We were the last two groups of passengers to get down the bus.

Skybus shuttle buses for hotels transfer at Southern Cross Station, Melbourne.

During check-in, reception area of Fraser Place, Melbourne. The reception area was rather small in my opinion.

We arrived at Fraser Place at about noon time. We checked in but were not allowed to go to our rooms because they were not ready yet. Standard check-in time is 2:00p.m. in the afternoon so we left our luggage with the concierge service and headed out for lunch. Came back to the hotel at about 4:00p.m. in the afternoon to get freshened up before going out for dinner.

The general appearance of Fraser Place, Melbourne. It’s located at Exploration Lane. The building was tall enough which you could spot from afar if you are around the area. It consisted of 112 serviced furnished apartments. There were roughly about 5 units on each floor. We were put on the seventh floor throughout our stay, if I am not mistaken. Sister and I got Studio Executive while parents stayed in Studio Deluxe. We were still on the same floor, just different room concepts.

So, now let me show you the pictures I took of the room. I am only going to show the room pictures of Studio Executive, since that’s where I am staying.

A study and dining table were also provided in Studio Executive.

Fully equipped kitchenette minus laundry and dryer machines. Eating utensils were extremely complete. And a small bottle of dish wash liquid was provided as well rather than the sachet dish wash liquid provided by Silverton Apartments and chargeable if requesting for extra.

The room is clean and spacious for two persons. But the bathroom is a bit small in my opinion. The bed is super comfortable unlike the ones at Silverton Apartment whereby all you felt was spring on the mattress. Air-condition was provided as well. And for those of you who are using iPhone, no fret on bringing universal adapter for battery charging as they provided a clock dock at the side of the bed which you could charge your phone directly. But unfortunately, it’s not applicable for iPhone 5 but iPhone 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S. Despite that our room is located right in front of the elevator, it wasn’t noisy at night when we were sleeping.

When in comes to television channel watching, be sure that you fully understood the rules and regulations. During our stay at Fraser Place, my dad watched a few movies shown on the TV channel. As he is not English literate and doesn’t know that some channels on FOXTEL are chargeable, he did not switch to other channels. And during checkout, we were surprised when the receptionist told us that we have an outstanding AUD$24.95 of TV bill. Hahaha …. So, both Sister and I roughly guessed that my dad must have watched about 4 to 5 movies during our 2 nights stay.

In overall, I am extremely satisfied with the services provided by Fraser Place, Melbourne. Location was ideal as it is in within walking distance to the town centre. But throughout our stay, we hung around La Trobe, Little Lonsdale Street and Swanston Street the most for shopping. There is a Chinatown nearby Fraser Place too but we did not go there. In terms of location, there is nothing you could complain about. And if you are hungry during midnight, there is a Malaysian cuisine restaurant just round the corner and it’s called Laksa Bar. Majority people came with the mindset that staying at Fraser Place is expensive, but I would say it depends on timing. If you book early, the rate would be better. If I were to return to Melbourne for another holiday trip, I wouldn’t mind staying at Fraser Place again.
