Review: Tony Moly Morning Dew Broccoli Sprout Cleansing Cream

This is the second sample pack of Tony Moly Morning Dew Broccoli Sprout Cleansing Cream which I got from Tony Moly. The first one which I got was like about a year ago but I did not gotten round to do a product review for it. So, here it is now.

The sample packet was designed in a way to look like the actual product but not in 3D, of course. But still, it’s cute enough. This product was launched like a year ago. Back then, cleansing cream was new to me. I had been using cleansing oil and water but cleansing cream, still an alien to me. Cleansing cream works like cleansing oil or water, but the only difference it makes is that it leaves my skin feeling a little bit oily as I have an oily skin.

The back of the package is all printed in Korean language. Couldn’t the least make out what’s it’s saying on the packaging. Hahaha … But I guess the direction of usage of a cleansing cream would be exactly the same like a usual cleansing oil or cleansing water. So, make sure your face is all dry during application.

Do not underestimate the quantity of the cleansing cream inside one small sample packet. It could fill up almost half of my vanity container. The texture of the product is creamy and not very thick. The green bits which you could see inside the cream is what they called broccoli particles. They will instantly melt or dissolve when you gentle massage them against your skin. They are not harsh on your skin, hence it doesn’t make them an exfoliant to your skin.

The smell was pretty refreshing to me. It was light, it smelled a bit flowery but I couldn’t pick up what’s the exact smell. The scent doesn’t linger around after you have washed the cream off with lukewarm water unlike some of the cleansing oil which I had previously used. In terms of the product effectiveness, I would say it worked quite well in removing the dirt and grime off my skin. I couldn’t vouch when it comes to removing makeup because I don’t use makeup.

When I wiped off the cleansing cream with a piece of cotton pad before washing them off with lukewarm water, I could see greenish stain being left onto the cotton pad later. My skin indeed felt very soft after washing off the cleansing cream with lukewarm water but I think I could feel a little bit of “oil” left on my skin until I double cleansed my skin with Kose Sekkisei White Liquid Wash.

1. Refreshing scent.
2. Squeaky clean after washing off the cleansing cream.

1. Don’t like the “oily” feel after washing off the cleansing cream.
2. Expensive (which I could get Kose Seikisho Perfect Cleansing Oil at the same price).

Desserts @ The Xinful Cafe

This was my third visit to The Xinful Cafe ever since it opened it’s door to the public. I had been curious to try Red Velvet all these while and I happened to find out that The Xinful Cafe serves Red Velvet as well. So, I suggested to Kaylie that we go The Xinful Cafe after our dinner at Ristorante Buon Gusto. I knew that she wasn’t that keen on going The Xinful Cafe as the place could be pretty noisy at times when some other patrons were making lots of noise.

Kaylie, Rain and I headed over to The Xinful Cafe immediately after our unsatisfying dinner at Ristorante Buon Gusto. The place was already half packed when we arrived. We chose a table nearby to the cashier counter as the unoccupied tables were either too small or big.

Red Velvet | B$4.00

To be honest, I find their cakes to be rather disappointing this time round. I had never tried any Red Velvet before this but this was way too stiff and dry. It’s like the cake had been kept in the fridge for a couple of days and there is no moisture in the cake anymore. The taste of the cake was not bad albeit a little bit too sweet for my liking. But I am pretty sure that it will tastes great if it wasn’t that stiff and hard.

Black Forest | B$4.00

Rain’s choice of dessert. I wanted to try Durian Pancake as well. But unfortunately, it wasn’t served yesterday. In terms of the cake moisture, this one was slightly better than my Red Velvet. The sweet level was moderate. The sponge layer was made out of chocolate with layers of chocolate cream in between.

Banana Waffle With Chocolate Syrup | B$3.80

Jia visited The Xinful Cafe in early of the week and she mentioned that the waffles served there was good. So as usual, I was tempted to try. I liked the presentation of their desserts. Nicely arranged bananas topped with generous amount of chocolate syrup. You can actually choose between chocolate or maple syrup but I am pretty sure that maple syrup doesn’t go that well with bananas. The waffle was a little bit hard on the outside but soft on the inside, which Kaylie claimed that this is how a waffle should be. I am no waffle expert but it was quite nice.

Spring Onion Pancakes | B$2.80

My favorite dessert dish of the night – Spring Onion Pancakes! After all the sweet desserts, I am desperately in need of something salty to balance out my taste bud. At first, I thought it’s made out of Roti Prata judging from the crispiness of the pancake by the look. Rain, Taiwanese by nationality said that this is how a Spring Onion Pancake is supposed to look like. LOL! I sounded like a noob yesterday.

Anyways, this was really good. The flavoring was just perfect and the pancake was crispy albeit a little bit too oily. If you are a big fan of Spring Onion Pancake, you should try this the next time you visit The Xinful Cafe. But if you had been to Taiwan before and tasted the original version of Spring Onion Pancake, this may not taste good enough to your expectation. So, be warned! Hahaha …

Reunion Dinner @ Ristorante Buon Gusto

Kaylie, Rain and I had a dinner gathering at Ristorante Buon Gusto yesterday evening. Our said reunion gathering dinner was supposed to be like 2 weeks ago but I kept on having other commitments, so we postponed it until yesterday. Rain will be flying back to Kuala Lumpur (KL) next weekend, so it’s compulsory to meet up yesterday or else I doubt I’ll have the time do so. We actually wanted to try out Bistro Chez Fio for dinner. But unfortunately, Bistro Chez Fio is only opened until 5:00p.m. in the afternoon. So, I suggested Ristorante Buon Gusto since I wanted to have dessert at The Xinful Cafe after dinner.

Gadong Central area were quite jam packed with cars due to payday time of the month. But luckily enough, both Kaylie and I managed to find parking spaces close to Ristorante Buon Gusto. I parked my car in front of AP Ayam Penyet while Kaylie parked hers behind me. Both of them were already waiting for me by the entrance of Ristorante Buon Gusto as I arrive.

Introducing my dinner companions for the night – Rain & Kaylie

A naughty shot of the both of them. I used the Portrait Enhancer mode on my digital camera for the above two pictures.

Anyways, let’s start on the food pictures. To be honest, all three of us were quite disappointed with their food. I am assuming we ordered the wrong dishes. Majority patrons went for their pizza and pasta. But Kaylie swore that she wouldn’t be returning to the place anymore due to the food quality. But ambiance was quite nice though. I really liked the lighting of the place.

Complimentary appetizer

I am not sure if this is French Onion or Mushroom Soup. It doesn’t look like Mushroom Soup to me though there were a few slices of button mushrooms. Mushroom Soup should be thick but this was quite liquid and see through compared to the usual Mushroom Soup that I had before. Both Rain and Kaylie mentioned that the mushrooms tasted quite raw. Well, such button mushrooms tasted like that. I preferred this kind of mushroom over Shiitake mushrooms though. The soup tasted quite nice for me though a little bit salty.

Sizzling Lamb Loin | B$20.00

This was not included in their usual menu. The menu for their sizzling hot plate dishes came separately. You have to request for it and the waiter will bring you the said menu. I had Barbeque Sauce as the gravy for my lamb loins. Majority people would usually go for Black Pepper Sauce when it comes to lamb steak or what, but not me. I had mine medium cooked. But unfortunately, my lamb loins were all overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The meat were stiff and dry. Some of the meat were still red in color on the inside. The Barbeque Sauce that went with the Lamb Loins was very tasty though.

Sizzling Salmon Cutlets | B$16.50

Rain’s dinner for the night. She had Honey Mustard as the sauce for her salmon cutlets. She asked the waiter which sauce goes best with Salmon Cutlets and he recommended Honey Mustard. Thank God that he did not suggest Mushroom, Barbeque or Black Pepper. If he did, I would have thought that he is not experienced enough when it comes to food. Rain quite liked the accompanying sauce in the end. Good for her, at least her money was well spent. LOL!

Sizzling Chicken Steak | B$9.00

Kaylie’s dinner for the night. At first, I thought their idea of chicken steak was some boneless chicken breast fillets. But it turned out to be one whole leg of a chicken. *speechless* The chicken was rather hard and dry. She had Mushroom Sauce to go with her “chicken steak”. But unfortunately, I think she chewed on a black pepper and she goes all looking for water to numb out the spiciness on her throat.

Kaylie & I. I think I needed to do something with my hair already. *hmm…*

Kaylie made multiple copies of the Polaroid prints for the both of us. And the waiter who took the pictures for us is so not cut out to be a photographer. He shouldn’t have taken from that distance hence making our feet been seen on the pictures as well. *sweat*

Overall Rating: 7 out of 10

Verdict: Customer service was okay in my opinion but what I don’t like was that the waiter kept on wanting to take away our appetizers when we have yet finished them. Dinner was only served like 15 – 20 minutes after ordering, which I find it acceptable since we ordered sizzling dishes. The whole place was fogged a while before our dinner were served, so assuming that the ventilation of the place wasn’t fully equipped? Food was only average as my lamb loins were overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Ambiance was pretty good though and I might return to try their pasta next time.

Review: My Scheming Hyaluronan Moisture Eye Mask

Bought the above said eye mask on my last trip to Miri in the early of this month. Only gotten round to use it a couple of days ago when I felt that my eyes needed a bit of pampering, My face had been suffering from breakouts as my time of the month is already around the corner. This is the very first time when I actually hope that it would come faster. My experience had taught me that my skin condition is usually at it’s worst one week before my period is due and they will get better when I am having my period. I know weird, right? LOL!

I bought it because I was quite attracted to it’s packaging design. Alan was shocked to see me buying so many sheet masks when we were in Watsons at the point of my purchases. It’s human nature of a female species anyways. So, it couldn’t be blamed. Hahaha … xD

The product came with proper instruction guide on how to use the eye mask. Majority of the Taiwanese sheet masks which I had previously used came in Chinese format when it comes to their ingredients list. Surprisingly, there were quite a lot of English wordings with My Scheming products. Or perhaps, this kind of packaging was specially made for Malaysian market? Hahaha …

The design of My Scheming eye mask is completely different from the eye masks which I had tried previously. The design is like the shape of a butterfly. I find the cut out of the eye areas to be a little bit too big for my eyes. Well, I think it will be a little bit big for majority users. It couldn’t even cover the eye bags area due to the big cut out on the eye areas. So, I have to move the eye mask further upwards so that it will cover my eye bags but it wouldn’t cover my eyelids then.

Technically speaking, this eye mask could only cover either the eyelids or the eye bags. It couldn’t hit two birds with one stone. The eye mask was however able to moisturize my upper cheek areas, nose and side edges of the bottom forehead area. The areas covered were brightened when I removed the eye mask after 15 minutes later. Unfortunately, I don’t see much difference that it did to my eye bags areas.

1. Minimal fragrance level.
2. Moisturized my upper cheek areas, nose and side edges of the bottom of my forehead.

1. Horrible design of the cut out.
2. Couldn’t cover both eyelids and eye bags at the same time.
3. Not much difference done to the eye areas.
