Review: Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack

It’s finally Saturday today and I’ll be in Miri in another two weeks to attend Elsey’s wedding. Well, it isn’t the wedding that I am excited about but probably the relaxing time that I’ll be having without the need to think about work and stress myself out. I am not implying that my work is stressful but who doesn’t like a relaxing time, right? Unfortunately, Alan wouldn’t be in Miri for Elsey’s wedding albeit he was being invited as well. So, it was only down to Ing, KinG, Patrick and I.

Anyways, here’s a review blog entry on a Laneige product which I requested Sister to get for me on her last trip to Seoul at the end of last year. Albeit it’s been almost a year after purchasing, I only started using the product not long ago. Hahaha … I had quite a few sample pot of Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX which I did not use and ended up giving them away.

I just compiled a batch of unfinished Shiseido and Laneige sample products the other day and gave it to one of my staff when I saw that she had quite a few crowfeet at the side of her eyes. And she’s two years younger than I am! She’s extremely stingy when it comes to “beautifying” herself. She’s a pretty lady but she’s not so keen about spending on skincare products. I know skincare products could be expensive but they are mandatory investments when you hit a certain age.

Another colleague and I suggested her switching to Elizabeth Arden when she’s finished with the sample products that I gave her. Elizabeth Arden products are always on 20% discount during sales period at Hua Ho, Yayasan. Spare out B$200 and you’ll get Elizabeth Arden products which could last you almost half a year!

Anyways, let’s get back to what I intended to do today …

The product size of Laneige Firming Pack is smaller than Laneige Sleeping Pack_EX. The former only contains 50ml while the latter has 80ml worth of product in a pot. Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack was released around the end of last year, if I am not mistaken. Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack is considered as the improved version of Laneige Sleeping Pack_EX. The former aims on skin firming while the latter focuses on skin hydration.

As usual, majority of Laneige products which are housed in pots come with a skincare “spatula” for hygiene reason. I don’t have a habit of using those “spatula”. I would usually scoop the “gel” out using my fingers. But of course, you must make sure that your fingers are all clean beforehand.

The texture is in the form of gel – memory form gel to be more specific. No matter how badly you tried to mess up the “gel”, it will return back to it’s original flawless texture in within 20 seconds. I do not have a picture to illustrate my previous statement but it’s true. Do try it when you had bought a pot for yourself.

The first time when I was trying this product, I was completely unaware of it’s memory form gel texture. Until when I was about to screw the lid back on, I realized that the texture had gone all smooth and flawless. The hole which I previously created while trying to scoop out the gel had vanished.

What Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack is as extracted from the website:

Instant reshaping memory form gel rejuvenates the sagging skin during the night.

The product smelled extremely nice, just like any other products from Laneige. It gets absorbed onto the skin real quick regardless how generous amount you slathered onto your skin. But of course, what I meant by generous was not the whole pot of gel. LOL!

I accidentally scooped quite a lot for a few times but it still get absorbed onto my skin quickly leaving a smooth finishing. It does leave my skin feeling all soft and supple the next morning and I could see that my skin looked a little bit firmer nowadays compared to before using Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack. And I am extremely satisfied with this product!

For those of you who are considering getting yourself one of Laneige Sleeping Pack, I would suggest going ahead with Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack because it provides both skin firming and hydration at the same time. Why not hit two birds with one stone? Get it? Hahaha … xD

So, here’s what I think of Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack in a nutshell:

1. Smelled nice.
2. Firms the skin.
3. Memory form gel texture.
4. Absorbs onto the skin real quick.
5. Soft and supple skin on the next morning.

1. Not cheap in Brunei.

Review: Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Oil

After finishing my previous bottle of Shiseido Senka Perfect Oil, I was contemplating whether to try The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil or Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Oil first. I chose the latter in the end because it was being bought before the former. I bought this on one of my previous trip to Miri few months ago. I was browsing through the aisles of Watsons, Boulevard Shopping Mall when I found this.

I think this is my first bottle of Neutrogena product after so long. The last time I used a Neutrogena product was probably 3 to 4 years ago and it was a facial foam cleanser, if my memory served me well. The bottle came with a cap lock for the pump dispenser so that the liquid wouldn’t get pumped out by accident if you were to bring it with you on travel.

What surprised me was that the packaging stated that this product was made in Korea but there wasn’t a single Korean wording in the entire packaging but Chinese. Weird, huh? Probably this product was only manufactured to be exported instead of being sold locally as the entire Korean market was flooded with their own major brands like Tony Moly, The Face Shop, Skin Food, Holika Holika, Innisfree, Missha and so on.

Anyways, the cleansing oil was housed in a sturdy blue plastic bottle and the color of the cleansing was about the same as cooking oil. Not as yellowish as a cooking oil but almost the same. The texture of the liquid was a lot thicker compared to Shiseido Senka Perfect Oil but not as thick as Kanebo Blanchir Superior Oil Cleansing. In terms of the scent, it smelled pretty much the same like Biore Cleansing Oil though I think that this Neutrogena has a stronger smell of red or green apple compared to the Biore one.

I applied as how it was instructed on the packaging of the product. I dispensed about 3 to 4 pumps of the cleansing oil per cleansing and it was able to clean my face well enough for my liking. It doesn’t cloud my vision as some of the cleansing oils which I had used previously did. It emulsified very quickly when it got in contact with water. Instead of turning milky white, it turned out milky blue like Kose Seikisho Perfect Cleansing Oil.

It leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and squeaky clean after cleansing. But of course, I would definitely follow my cleansing routine with a facial cleanser – Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser albeit I am not using any makeup during the day. If I ended my cleansing without a facial cleanser, it made me feel slightly paranoid that my face isn’t clean enough. But of course, there are days when I got lazy and I just cleanse my face with a facial cleanser. But those days don’t come very often, only when I am not feeling well. *touchwood*

So, here’s what I think of Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Oil in a nutshell:

1. Affordable, comes in 200ml.
2. Cleanses face well enough.
3. Leave skin soft, smooth and squeaky clean.
4. Emulsifies very quickly when in contact with water.
5. Doesn’t cloud vision.

1. Scent may be a bit overpowering for those who don’t like heavily scent skincare products.

Review: My Scheming Hyaluronan Hydrating Mask

Hello lovelies! Time sure flies by very quick this week and it’s already Thursday today. Any plan for the weekend? Kaylie and I were supposed to watch Sleeping Beauty On Skates this Sunday but we found out that instead of ice skating, we might be getting rollerblading. Therefore, we decided to give the show a miss.

Planning to pay Nails & Wax, Airport Mall a visit this Sunday as my ingrown nails were a bit out of place but driving to Times Square area on this Sunday would be a pain on the neck. So, I’ll probably get my nails manicured at some saloon in town. LOL!

So, here’s a facial sheet mask review for today – My Scheming Hyaluronan Hydrating Mask. I bought this along with my previous haul. And I still have a couple left from the haul but I’ll finish them as quickly as I could.

My Scheming Hyaluronan Hydrating Mask

I was really impressed with My Scheming Mint Collagen Soothing Mask previously and I hoped that this mask would give me the same effect. My Scheming Hyaluronan Hydrating Mask comes with various plant essences which supplement nutrition to the skin, improving skin condition such as roughness, dryness and cracks. I am pretty sure that you all had known that Hyaluronic Acid became a trend in Korean and Taiwanese skincare products recently. Any skincare product that came with the main ingredient of Hyaluronic Acid would surely aims for moisturizing the skin.

When I first knew the main function of Hyaluronic Acid, I made an attempt to buy quite a few of various brands of facial sheet with the main ingredient of it. LOL! But the habit stopped recently as I became lazier with application of sheet masks. I even have quite a few stashed in my home fridge for almost half a year already. Guilty as charged. LOL!

I liked My Scheming facial sheet masks because they came with English product descriptions. Easy understanding for someone who doesn’t like to read Chinese wordings like me. As usual, I would place the facial sheet mask inside the fridge before usage so that it gives a cooling sensation when you applied it onto your face. And it’s supposed to help with minimizing the size of your pores (as according to my ex-colleague). Hahaha … xD

My skin indeed felt much more moisturized and hydrated after using the facial sheet mask but the brightening effect was not as obvious as compared to My Scheming Mint Collagen Soothing Mask. And no breakout on the next morning, which is good. Dewy effect was temporary as it only lasted for about a night.

So, here’s what I thought of My Scheming Hyaluronan Hydrating Mask in a nutshell:

1. Doesn’t reek of alcohol.
2. Essence doesn’t drip.
3. Thin texture but able to hold essence well.
4. Skin felt moisturized and hydrated after application.

1. Dewy effect lasted temporarily only.
2. Brightening effect is not that obvious.

Dinner @ Pizza Hut, Gadong

There’s Sleeping Beauty On Skates starting from this Friday until next Monday with two shows per day apart from Sunday. There will be three shows per day on Sunday which start at 10:00a.m., 3:00p.m. and 8:00p.m. I wanted to go to the show on Sunday morning but both Kaylie and her sister wanted the evening show instead. So, I am now waiting for her sister’s decision if she wanted to go for the Friday evening show instead.

A colleague of mine requested me to help her buying the tickets for Monday evening show for both her and her boyfriend. I am not sure how many tickets were already sold but I think it wasn’t that well received compared to Disney On Ice from few years back. Shall know on this Friday whether entrance tickets are selling good or not.

Kaylie and I went to Jernik Remittance before dinner as I have to bank in some money to the seller for my Longchamp Cabas Tote. I actually handed the money to Kaylie last weekend since she told me that she will be opening a bank account at Maybank, Miri on Monday morning. But unfortunately, the entire Maybank system was down on that particular day. Out of desperation, I turned to KinG and asked if he’s able to online transfer the fund to the seller via his account. But he had some other commitments few days ago and had yet topped up his bank account. Hence the reason why I decided to use Jernik Remittance in the end.

If you are interested in branded designer bags, try Miss Tudou. The pricing of the designer bags sold on her website were reasonable and they are cheaper than Singapore. Best still, they were all brought in from either US or Europe.

Anyways, not gonna rattle much on my experience of buying designer bags online. So, here comes the details of my dinner with Kaylie at Pizza Hut, Gadong yesterday evening. Kaylie suggested Swensen’s but I remembered her telling me that she got sick of the food there when I suggested Swensen’s few days ago. It turned out that she’s actually craving for ice-cream desserts when it’s her time of the month. After much nagging from me, she decided on Pizza Hut. There are two Pizza Hut(s) in Gadong – The Mall and Abdul Razak Complex. We chose the one outside The Mall albeit it was drizzling.

Coke | B$2.00

Was craving for some cold Coke so I ordered one when I usually have a glass of warm water. Couldn’t finish the entire thing but half only. Specifically requested my Coke to come without ice.

Cappuccino | B$3.90

Scared of being nagged by Kevin (the boyfriend) when she reaches home, Kaylie ordered a cup of Cappuccino when she’s actually craving for some ice-blended drinks from the menu.

Chicken Fingers | B$5.50

This is a deep fried breaded chicken breast fillets. I am usually not a huge fan of chicken breast fillets but this was surprisingly good when dipped with the accompanying dipping sauce. The Chicken Fingers were juicy and tender. Do try this if you want something to eat before your pizza order arrive.

Crunchy Cheesy Bites Honey Garlic Chicken Pizza | B$18.90

We were both being introduced to the newly launched pizza crust of Pizza Hut – Crunchy Cheesy Bites. It looked extremely appetizing on the brochures but when it was being served to us, we were pretty much disappointed. The Crunchy Cheesy Bites range of pizzas came with a dipping sauce – Swiss Fondue Cheese Dip. The base of the pizza was a lot thinner than the usual pan pizza that we ordered. The cornflakes couldn’t stay “intact” on the dough and they kept on falling off onto the plate while we were eating it.

We are usually allowed to have two flavors of pizza toppings on either regular or large pan pizza but with Crunchy Cheesy Bites, you won’t be allowed to. So, make sure that you ordered the topping that you really like or else you would think that this whole pizza is a waste of money. Both Kaylie and I were disappointed with the pizza. We both agreed that pan pizza was a lot nicer. The cheese inside the stuffed crust weren’t exactly the “melty” type anymore but a little bit hard.

To be honest, the reason why both Kaylie and I chose Pizza Hut outside The Mall was that we remembered that there was no service charge on top of the bill. After we finished placing our orders, the waitress informed us that the serving time would be in within 7 to 9 minutes and she also mentioned something about service. But unfortunately, the both of us were too occupied with talking and barely listened to what the waitress was talking about. LOL!

Upon every serving of our drinks to pizza, the waitress kept on telling us to enjoy our drinks, appetizer and pizza which Kaylie found it rather annoying. We were quite surprised with the improvement of their customer services based on what I remembered from my last patronage. Out of a sudden, it hits me that I remembered hearing the waitress mentioning something about service. I asked Kaylie whether there could be an additional service charge? It turned out that I was right, there was indeed an additional 5% service charge on top of the total bill.

If we had known that there was an additional 5% service charge at the Pizza Hut outside The Mall, we would have just stayed at the branch in The Mall instead of getting all the troubles of walking under the rain with an umbrella!

Review: Laneige Sun Block Sensitive SPF30 PA++

I had been crazing over sunscreens lately as how I used to craze over facial sheet masks previously. Ever since I had finished up my bottle of Shiseido Multi-Defense UV Protector SPF50 PA+++, I had been looking for something equivalent. I had even bought and tried both Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA+++ and Kose Sekkisei Sun Protector N SPF50+ PA+++, but unfortunately I don’t like them both as much as I did with Multi-Defense.

I had been given four sample sachets of Laneige Sunblock Sensitive SPF30 PA++ previously when I bought a bottle of Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence from Parkson, Miri. I am usually very skeptical towards the sunscreens from Laneige because they used to give me breakouts whenever I used them. Albeit it stated that the sunscreen was completely oil-free, but it still broke out on my skin quite seriously and they made my skin even more oilier than usual.

But surprisingly, this Laneige Sunblock Sensitive SPF30 PA++ changed my perception towards Laneige sunscreens to the extent that I even bought a whole tube for myself in the end. So, you could fairly guessed how much I loved this product.

Laneige Sun Block Sensitive SPF30 PA++

Instead of the small bottle packaging like the ones from Shiseido and Kose, this particular sunscreen comes in the packaging of a tube like Laneige version of BB Cream.

Extracted from

The non-chemical sunscreen suitable for sensitive skin.

Minimize allergic reactions that may appear on sensitive skin.

A mild sunscreen with 10 FREE formula containing 6 herbs water – lavender, chamomile, lemon verbena and aloe to sooth your skin.

The silicone complex powder minimizes oiliness and excess shine.

It has a typical nozzle type for majority sunscreens and BB Cream in the market. With this type of nozzle, it’s easier for you to measure the dosage that you needed.

The texture of the sunscreen is very creamy unlike the other sunscreens which I had previously tried. The other sunscreens were more like very watery in consistency. Albeit it’s texture is creamy, it doesn’t leave a white casting as long as you spread them evenly. The sunscreen might get “stuck” in some of your big sized open pores, so make sure that you spread them evenly especially around areas of open pores.

The sunscreen has a very typical scent of Laneige but not as strong as some of their range of skincare products. The scent is much more minimal compared to Laneige Snow BB Cream SPF41 PA++. It took me slightly longer to spread the sunscreen evenly on my skin compared to the watery version of other sunscreens which I had previously used. But then I liked the finishing, it’s pretty matte and smooth in my opinion. And best of all, it doesn’t break out on my sensitive skin like how the previous Laneige Sun Block Oil Free SPF35 PA++ did to my skin.

But unfortunately, I find it to be a little bit hard to wash off with household hand soap after application of this sunscreen on my face. It felt as if there is a layer of film left on my fingers. So, cleansing your face with a makeup remover or cleansing oil is mandatory if you don’t wanna wake up with a face full of breakouts the next morning.

So, here’s what I think of Laneige Sun Block Sensitive SPF30 PA++ in a nutshell:

1. Minimal scent.
2. Creamy texture but easily spread.
3. Smooth and matte finishing.
4. Doesn’t leave skin looking greasy.
5. Able to control the excess sebum secretion.
6. Doesn’t break out on my sensitive skin.
7. Doesn’t leave white casting if you spread them evenly.

1. Hard to wash off with household hand soap after application.
