Sister and I had dinner at Piccolo Fratini yesterday evening after I finished work around 7:30PM in the evening. Specifically told her to come and pick me later than usual as I had quite a lot of pending works in hand. We intended to go Senja Restaurant, Kiulap for dinner. I even called in to make a reservation for two.
Sadly speaking, it was pouring cats and dogs the time when I left work. So, the both of us decided not to drive far for dinner as the road visibility wasn’t clear either. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
So, dinner it was at Piccolo Fratini. The restaurant smelled so nice of pizzas baking in the oven the moment we stepped into the restaurant. There was only a table of diners at the time when we arrived. It took us both some time to decide what we wanted and we ordered two beverages, an appetizer, pizza and pasta.
Lime Juice | B$5.25
Sister’s choice of beverage and it was an overpriced glass of Lime Juice. Thankfully, the juice was freshly blended with lime instead of store bought ready made lime juice or extract. It was extremely sour in my opinion. If you have an extremely low threshold with sour food/beverage, I wouldn’t suggest ordering it.
Hot Chocolate | B$4.00
My choice of drink. I intended to order Avocado Milkshake at first but decided not to as I felt sick after drinking an entire glass few weeks ago when having an early lunch with some acquaintances from work. This was okay but it was probably made with store bought Cadbury chocolate powder.
Funghi Repieni Al Forno | B$14.15
oven baked stuffed mushrooms with cream cheese and spinach served with tomato coulis and salad bouquet
This is something you would love if you are a huge fan of mushrooms, spinach and cream cheese. The number of stuffed mushrooms they serve depends on the size of the mushroom or they had really adjusted the portions.
The first time I had this, it was at RMS Portview Restaurant for Eldie’s birthday. They served a total of 7 stuffed mushrooms and it was for B$14 only. Anyways, the mushrooms were baked to perfection. They were juicy and the portion of spinach in a mushroom was generous too.
Quatro Stagioni | B$16.25
tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese then quarterly topped with mushrooms, artichokes, olives and smoked salmon
My personal verdicts on this pizza were that the but the portion was good. Four slices per person if this was shared among two persons. Toppings came in quarterly form as mentioned in the menu.
Tagliatelle Ai Funghi | B$16.75
special homemade spinach pasta with mushroom, onion, parsley, Parmesan cheese and cream sauce in fresh tomato sauce
This was a nice plate of pasta. Sadly speaking, the portion of the mushroom was too little given the portion of the pasta. I preferred the Creamy Fettuccine Carbonara from Savy’s Brasserie, Mabohai. The pasta was a little bit overcooked for our liking. All in all, this was a good plate of pasta but they could do a little bit of adjustment in terms of the portion of the mushroom and the way the pasta was cooked.
