Dinner yesterday was at Kaizen Sushi Waterfront with Sister and Jennifer. Both of them just came back from Bali in the morning. So, we met up for dinner in the evening. Standard Chartered Bank is offering a promotion whereby SCB’s credit card holders can enjoy 35% off dining bill at selected merchants throughout the period of Ramadhan and Kaizen Sushi Japanese Restaurant was one of them.
For your information, this particular deal for Kaizen Sushi Japanese Restaurant is only applicable for their Watefront and Kuala Belait branches. Other participating outlets are:
- All Seasons Restaurant (Parkview Hotel & Times Square branches)
- KB Sentral Grand (Sentral Shopping Centre)
- Freshco Brunei (Plaza Abdul Razak)
- I-Lotus Restaurant (Jalan Rimba)
To avoid disappointment, I called in two days earlier to make a reservation as I was being told that Kaizen Sushi Waterfront is always fully booked during Ramadhan period when they used to have Sungkai buffet since years ago.
Edamame | B$2.70
Hidayako | B$2.70
This is a healthier option after Agedashi Tofu. If you would like something similar but without deep frying the tofu, this is the one to order. But I think they were being extremely careful in terms of seasoning as Sister had to add some more soy sauce to spice up her Hidayako. LOL!
Sake Temaki | B$3.60 & Spicy Maguro Temaki | B$3.60
Sashimi (Sake) | B$12.60
We decided to go for plain salmon sashimi instead of assorted types of sashimi. These were good, plump and juicy. Big thumbs up!
Yaki Udon | B$7.20
We ordered two types of main courses to share among the three of us. So, we decided to order one noodle and one rice dish each. As for the noodle, we had this Yaki Udon. It was good but tad bit too flavorful, customized to local preferences. Came with super generous portions of greens. Liked that they used the flesh from chicken thigh instead of chicken breast.
Koroke | B$3.60
I wanted to try something different this time round. So, I ordered this Koroke. Looks like croquette is not my cup of tea. LOL! I think I am just not into breaded deep fried food.
Softshell Tendon | B$6.30
Rather disappointed with this Softshell Tendon this time round as the flesh was a bit mushy and wet but I liked the side dish of pickled zuchinni though. They were crunchy and appetizing.
Piece of advise (speaking from experience):
If you were to dine at Kaizen Sushi Waterfront, I would definitely not recommend parking your vehicle inside the compound underneath Kaizen Sushi Waterfront. Firstly, you have to pay B$5 per entry. Secondly, it is not refundable off your dining bill.
We were being told by one of the waitresses that the parking compound is now owned by the government. Hence, no refund will be made available regardless how much you spent at Kaizen Sushi Waterfront. I was lucky that I parked my vehicle in the basement parking lot of Yayasan Complex and I only paid B$1 per entry since it was evening time. Jennifer, however was unlucky and had to absorb the B$5 parking fee herself.
