09092016 / The Frenz Café, Kiulap

The Frenz Café was originally established around Kampung Mentiri in October 2015 but they decided to relocate to Kiulap couple of months ago. Not sure as to why they wanted a change in location. Perhaps they see Kiulap as a bigger market for cafes?

Jennifer has yet been to The Frenz Café after trying it out on their first day of opening last year. So, we decided to go there since it is located in town and convenient for me to fetch Mom at the airport after dinner. I stayed longer after dinner as Mom flight from Shanghai was delayed and the plane only landed 10 minutes to 9PM.

The Frenz Café is now located as to where Bistro Chez Fio used to be. I did not know that until Jennifer reminded me about it. Come to think about it, she was right as Bistro Chez Fio was located on the same block as Sweet Deli Bakery too. Upon arrival, we were being given menus and informed to place our orders by the Cashier counter. Both Jennifer and I agreed that the seating were kind of cramp especially where we sat yesterday.

If there was another patron sitting behind me, I am pretty sure that the entire walkway will be non-accessible. They should not have placed such a big table around the area. A small round table which fits two will be just fine. We only had main courses as we intended to go for coffee session after dinner.

Spaghetti Pesto with Grilled Chicken | B$12.00

Price had been revised after their relocation. This was fared at B$9.90 previously. Pesto flavoring was not bad but both Jennifer and I agreed that the spaghetti was overcooked. The garlic bread was nice with a crunchy texture and rich in butter and garlic taste.

I did not feel like having pasta as I already had instant noodles for lunch. So, I ordered this Chicken Cordon Bleu. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was okay in my opinion. The flavoring was nicely done but the chicken was tad bit dry and I had to dip them with some ketchup and chili sauce.

There were beef stuffed inside the Chicken Cordon Bleu which I did not eat but gave them all to Jennifer. The fries were heavily seasoned in my opinion and I only finished half before giving up completely.

Verdict: Location is ideal for those who are living nearby the town area compared to where it used to be located. However, I do find that their food quality had not been as consistent as before. Jennifer and I both agreed that they have improved in some aspects but perhaps they need to consider doing a bit of alteration with the seating arrangements?
