Review: Softymo DEEP Cleansing Oil

Hi! I am back again trying to clear my pending skincare review blog entries. I had incorporated a few new skincare products into my skincare routine since few months ago. There will be at least two to three skincare products’ reviews coming up shortly (hopefully). But as for today, I will be covering on Softymo DEEP Cleansing Oil.

I got this cleansing oil while in Tokyo in September 2016. Honestly speaking, it is hard to get my hands on Japanese drugstore cleansing oils here in Brunei or Malaysia. I might have better luck in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.

I remembered being in one of the Watsons outlets in Taipei around March 2015. I was in awe when I saw the amount of cleansing oils displayed on the product shelves. Unfortunately, I did not have much TWD in hand at the time. So, I only got myself a bottle or two.

What I love about Japanese drugstores is that they offer refill pack for majority of their toiletries products, especially those in liquid form. If you had been using a particular product and do not feel like trying out another brand, you can always get the refill pack instead of the whole bottle. It saves you some bucks and helps protect our Earth at the same time.

I had seen that majority skincare brands in the market have introduced cleansing water as well. Of course, cleansing water is a lot more convenient on lazy days. But I honestly believe that cleansing oil cleanses way better than cleansing water. The latter works well enough on faces with light or zero makeup. I don’t do heavy makeup on my face so I will not be doing any swatches.

For those of you who are new with cleansing oil, use it on dry hands and face. I usually use about three to four pumps on my hands per usage (that explains why my cleansing oil runs out quickly). Gently massage the cleansing oil onto dry face in circular motion. It dissolves makeup and soften both blackheads and whiteheads.

Take a bit of lukewarm water and gently massage onto the face to emulsify the cleansing oil. The cleansing oil will then turn milky in color. Next step is completely optional as it is my personal preference when doing cleansing routine. Take a piece of cotton pad and wipe off the emulsified cleansing oil before rinsing the face with lukewarm water.

Cleansing oil alone is not sufficient enough for cleansing routine. Always follow with a facial cleanser after cleansing oil to make sure that your skin is properly cleansed. That way, it will reduce the chances of getting breakouts the next day due to not properly cleansed skin on the day before. I am currently using innisfree Sea Salt Perfect Cleanser.

After having used this cleansing oil for more than a month, my skin is visibly better. My pores were clearer and the amount of blackheads were lesser now. The consistency of the cleansing oil is very liquidy and it comes with a refreshing scent of fruits (I think). I could not make out if it is fruity or floral but I think it is more of the former than latter.

So, here’s what I think of Softymo DEEP Cleansing Oil in a nutshell:

Pros:
1. Light and refreshing scent.
2. Cleanses skin very well.
3. Do not cause skin breakout.
4. Skin is visibly better.
5. Lesser blackheads.

Cons:
1. Not available in Brunei.
