The family and I (minus the Sister) celebrated Mother’s Day early this year as I will be working on the exact day. Mom is always indecisive when it comes to deciding a venue for dinner so I took the job over. Mom is not much of a Japanese cuisine person as compared to Dad. I think she likes Korean cuisine but not so much on the spiciness though.
I decided to bring them to Traders Dim Sum Centre this time round as I find their food pretty acceptable and reasonable given the pricing. The place was not crowded at the time we arrived as it was past dinner hour rush. We arrived nearing 8:15PM if I am not wrong. There was only a table or two of patrons at the time.
We ordered everything in the smallest portion as the three of us are not big eaters and we even had leftovers to bring home. Mom and I went to Miri the next morning. So, the leftovers served as Dad’s lunch for the next day.
Stir Fry Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish | B$8
Mom mentioned that it had been quite some time since she last had bean sprouts but was reluctant to order as she knew that I am not much of a bean sprout person. But I decided to order anyways since it’s a Mother’s Day dinner. It was pretty good but salty due to the salted fish. However, it was best eaten when served hot as the bean sprouts tend to taste raw when cold.
TDC Special Bean Curd | B$10
This is their homemade special bean curd with salted egg yolk sauce. I had it once before at a lunch meeting with some business suppliers. It was good at first but I find it a bit sickening when having too much.
Yam Basket | B$20
I was craving for Yam Basket and Mom was craving for Sweet & Sour Pork. As Trader Dim Sum Centre is a Halal restaurant, we can only make do with Sweet & Sour Chicken. Mom mentioned that the Yam Basket was lacking in flavor while Dad complained about it being salty. LOL!
