Review: Shiseido SENKA Perfect Watery Oil

I can feel my period is around the corner as I am craving for sweet junk foods. And yeah, I checked my period log and my next period is due in another 7 days. Hence, it explained all these sweet cravings in the past two days. Sister is coming home tomorrow and we will be bringing Mom to Sulbingsoo for Korean desserts tomorrow evening.

Anyways, it has been quite some time since I last did a skincare product review and here comes one for today. I will be reviewing on Shiseido SENKA Perfect Watery Oil which I bought from Watsons, Miri some time early last month.

I see that Watsons in Miri has quite a big varieties of makeup removers products as compared to before and Shiseido SENKA is one of them. Price wise, I find them affordable in comparison to those high end counter makeup removers and both work equivalent.

Shiseido SENKA Perfect Watery Oil

This product is the fourth makeup remover which I had tried of Shiseido SENKA range, not including their regular facial cleanser. I actually have another makeup remover from Shiseido SENKA stashed somewhere at the bottom of my closet. LOL! Out of the four makeup removers from Shiseido SENKA which I had used, I think I like this one the best in comparison.

My first product from Shiseido SENKA was their Perfect Oil (if I am not wrong). The consistency of Perfect Watery Oil is more runny in comparison to Perfect Oil. As usual, I use about three to four pumps per cleansing. It is subjective to personal preference. Some may like it with lesser dosage while some prefer about three to four pumps.

Apply onto dry face and gently massage the liquid in circular motion. Take a little bit of lukewarm water to dissolve the cleansing oil. The next step is completely optional but I like to wipe off the emulsified cleansing oil with a piece of cotton pad before rinsing completely with lukewarm water. And remember to always follow your cleansing routine with a facial cleanser. I am currently using innisfree Sea Salt Perfect Cleanser.

This product comes with a rather strong fragrance hence unsuitable for those who prefer fragrance free or mildly scented makeup remover. I am not one who love strongly scented skincare product but this one happened to come with the fragrance which I love. It smelled almost similar to rose, if I am not mistaken.

As I am not one who use heavy makeup apart from sunscreen during the day, I could not exactly vouch for the effectiveness of removing heavy makeup. However, I can vouch that it worked wonders on lightly made up face with only tinted sunscreen or regular sunscreen. The cleansing oil is not harsh on my skin and it did not cause any skin breakout the next day. It leaves my skin feeling all soft, smooth and most importantly, clean after rinsing.

So, here’s what I think of Shiseido SENKA Perfect Watery Oil in a nutshell:

Pros:
1. Removes light makeup, tinted or regular sunscreen well enough.
2. Leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and clean!
3. Doesn’t cause any skin breakout the next day.
4. Affordable.

Cons:
1. Strongly scented, unsuitable for those who do not like strongly perfumed skincare products.

Overall Rating: 4.8 out of 5

Price: RM29.80

Repurchase? Definitely!

    • Sorry for the late reply.

I could not vouch for the effectiveness of the product with heavy makeup but I did came across other reviews which mentioned that this cleansing oil works well with certain waterproof makeup.

There was one which commented that it did not really work with waterproof eyeliner but okay with some waterproof mascara though. So, I guess it depends on the makeup products which you are using?

  1. Interesting! I’ve never tried the affordable Shiseido products. I’m curious, and will look for this line next time I’m in a shop that sells Japanese cosmetics.

  2. Will it dry out my skin? I have combination skin, but it gets slightly oily during hot weather. I also only wear sunscreen and lipstick occasionally~

    • Hi!

I also have an oily combination skin type. Mine is oily on the outside but dry on the inside. Having said so, the cleansing oil didn’t dry out my skin though.

However, I would highly recommend to follow up with toner and moisturizer after washing your face.

      Hope this helps.
