30102017 / 丰满楼

As mentioned in my previous blog entry, today is first day off in two weeks time. I brought Mom with me for breakfast while Dad stayed home as he is a vegan for today due to some personal reason. I had been craving for dim sum for quite some time. I don’t usually go 丰满楼 for breakfast on Sunday as majority of the road access in town are blocked for Bandarku Ceria.

Without further ado, let me show you what Mom and I had for two. We ended up not able to finish some of our food and had them as takeaways.

Steamed Rice Rolls with Char Siu 叉烧猪肠粉

Deep Fried Spring Rolls 春卷

紫菜卷 / 鲜竹卷 / 凤爪

Stir Fried Turnip Cake 炒萝卜糕

As Mom is not a spicy eater, she requested this to be cooked without the sambal paste. It was rather bland for me as I preferred Stir Fried Turnip Cake to be with a little bit of spiciness for the extra kick.

Custard Bun 流沙包

A close shot view of the flowing custard filling inside the bun. Best eaten when served hot as the custard filling would “solidifies” when cooled down.

Of Random Things #121

Today is my first day off in two weeks. I intended to go out on my own for some window shopping in the afternoon after bringing Mom home from grocery shopping. However, my bum has been sticking onto the chair since coming home. LOL!

I had finally found a website which I could download Taiwanese drama series in high definition format. I managed to complete downloading two series today. I still have more than 50GB of Internet quota left as of today and they will expire after tomorrow. So, I am now trying to use them up as much as I could before they expire.

Review: innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Water

I came across innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Water when I was in Shanghai September 2016. I contemplated whether to buy it or not but ended up not buying it as I wasn’t sure how much weigh limit do I still have with my luggage at the time. When I was skincare shopping at the duty free shop of Singapore Changi Airport, I found out that they are having this promotion whereby you get extra discounts off for K-beauty products with minimum purchase of two items and above.

I think the promotion is still ongoing as I still get the same promotional discount when I was at Singapore Changi Airport earlier this month. I guess this promotion would last quite long but it doesn’t apply for online shopping at iSHOPCHANGI. You have to be physically there to enjoy such benefit. Without further ado, let’s get started with our skincare review for today!

innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Water

I’m not sure if you guys remember. I went through a phase whereby I had been totally obsessive towards cleansing water to the extent that I still have four to five cleansing waters storing in my skincare drawer as we speak. Reason being, I find them hassle free, effective and convenient to use on lazy days.

The packaging is a sturdy one. What’s so special about this product is the dispenser. Instead of the turning the bottle upside down to release the content before usage, this one comes with a pump dispenser whereby all you need to do is to place the cotton pad on top of the pump and press downward. I press about four to five times per usage to wet the cotton pad.

The fragrance, it is green tea scented with some added artificial fragrance (I think). It didn’t smell quite au naturale to me. I detected some alcohol scent in the cleansing water despite there wasn’t any alcohol listed in the ingredients’ description. I like that this cleansing water ain’t harsh on my skin and it leaves my skin feeling soft and supple after rinsing. It is a habit of mine that I must rinse my face after using cleansing water before following by my facial cleanser at the time.

Performance wise, it lives up to my expectation. It removes my eyebrow pencil, dirt and grimes off my face easily. However, I could not vouch for the effectiveness when it comes to removing heavy makeup. Most importantly, this cleansing water doesn’t give me any skin breakout problem.

So, here’s what I think of innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Water in a nutshell:

Pros:
1. Removes eyebrow pencil, dirt and grimes off my face very well.
2. Comes with a pump dispenser.
3. Doesn’t cause me any skin breakout problem.
4. Leaving skin feeling soft and supple after usage.
5. Ain’t harsh on my skin.

Cons:
1. Green tea scented which doesn’t smell quite au naturale to me.

27102017 / Tien Sing Restaurant

I had my manicure and pedicure session this evening after work as the ingrown nail in my toe has been bugging me for days. I went to the beauty salon next to Mook & Jasmine Spa. I like their manicure and pedicure as it is cheap as compared to the other salons offering the same service in the area.

I only paid B$10 for manicure and pedicure. Do not expect for complimentary arm and leg massage for the price paid. If you do nail coloring, there will be an additional B$4 charge unless you bring your own nail varnish. I only did nail color twice with them as I am not used to having nail color.

Anyways, I had my dinner at Tien Sing Restaurant this evening. I could have my dinner nearby after my manicure and pedicure session but I wanted somewhere quiet so that I can have my dinner in peace. Most of the Chinese restaurants in Kiulap tend to be crowded during dinner hour. So, Tien Sing Restaurant is an ideal venue for me at the time.

Mee Mamak | B$3.50

This is a vegan version of Mee Mamak. It’s usually served with the local yellow noodles which I’m not at all a fan of so I requested mine to be cooked with Kueh Tiaw. Mee Mamak is a stir fry noodles with tomato sauce and loads of green cut chilies.

Instead of serving with meat, they replaced all meats with deep fried bean curd and mock char siu slices. If you wanted something sour with tad bit of sweetness but spicy at the same time, their Mee Mamak serves the purpose well enough in my opinion.

Review: Happy Cream & Co.

I had finally tried out Happy Cream & Co. last Tuesday evening after work. I went to The Mall as I needed to stock up on my regular hair serum from Winmark. I had been hearing good things about the handcrafted ice-creams from Happy Cream & Co. . I’m even considering getting a pint of one of their flavors from Supa Save Mata-Mata but haven’t come around on deciding which flavor to get though.

Chee Fun, San Diann, Shew Hiang and I had tried three of their handcrafted ice-cream flavors from Games & Lattes last Sunday evening. We had Vanilla Bean, Matcha and Teh Tarik. We loved the Teh Tarik flavor the most. Having found out that Happy Cream & Co. is also serving Earl Grey flavor from their website, I decided to try it out.

Earl Grey | B$3.50

I’m not an Earl Grey person before. Having tried Earl Grey Lavender flavor from Creamier Gilman Barracks from Singapore earlier this month , I fell in love with the flavor. The Earl Grey flavor from Happy Cream & Co. is good in my opinion but I think I’d like it better if the flavor has been stronger. Honestly speaking, this is entirely subjective to personal preference.

They are serving in either single or double scoops. B$3.50 for single scoop and B$6 for double scoops. You can have the scoop(s) served in either cone or cup. Apparently, I had mine served on a cone for photography purpose and I didn’t eat the cone by the time I am done with the ice-cream. I like that scoop served comes pretty compacted if you know what I mean and it doesn’t melt as easily as soft-serve ice-cream does. I don’t mind returning again to try out their other flavors.
