It is my birthday this weekend. Jia arranged an early birthday dinner with me since I wouldn’t be around over the weekend. She got me to choose the venue for my birthday dinner and I chose Flour & Butter Cafe as it is one of her favorites as well as mine’s. Little Audrey’s Café is one of her favorites too but we had been there for her birthday dinner in late August.
I expected that Flour & Butter Cafe would be packed during dinner hour. So, I called in to make reservation in the afternoon for three pax. Jia told me that she would be bringing Lucas along if the weather permits. The weather was great tonight and Lucas joined us for dinner. He was rather shy at first as he takes time to warm up with me.
Flour & Butter Cafe always come up with different special menus on regular basis. Their last one was Nasi Lemak Burger if I’m not wrong. I am not sure if Nasi Lemak Burger is still available as we speak but I don’t think they made it a regular as it wasn’t available on the special menu today.
Iced Lemon Tea | B$4.00
Iced Chai Tea Latte | B$4.50
Instead of having the hot version like I usually did, I went for the iced version this time around with request of extra Chai syrup but lesser ice cubes. I got what I requested at no additional cost! Jia was curious of how Chai tasted like. She had a small teaspoonful to try and claimed that it wasn’t her cup of tea. LOL!
Waffles Breakfast | B$10.90
Jia had this as a friend of Stephen’s highly recommended them to try their Waffles Breakfast. Her Waffles Breakfast came with two slices of waffles, topped with scrambled eggs, beef rashers, chicken sausage and sides of either salad or fries of your choice. You could choose between regular or coffee fries.
Jia was pleased with what she had. She liked her waffles slightly soft and soggy while I liked mine slightly drier with crusty edges? Portion was generous given the price and she couldn’t finish them despite sharing with Lucas.
Penne Chicken Pesto Pasta | B$11.90
I remembered they were serving this with Rigatoni previously but had been replaced with Penne. No objection here as I liked prefer Penne over Rigatoni any time. I requested for less cream for my pasta sauce but I still found it creamy for my liking.
I am not saying that this wasn’t nice but it is entirely subjective to personal preference. I preferred dry pesto over creamy pesto. The chicken slices were good. They were juicy and succulent!
