Review: t-Lounge by Dilmah, Brunei

On the day after Jennifer’s wedding reception, Jennifer asked Sister and I if we would like to go out for a gathering with some of their ex-classmates. She suggested coffee after dinner but we thought it would be nicer to do it before dinner as Sister would be leaving for Singapore the next morning.

As usual, she left me with the task of choosing the venue. As Sister and I would be having brunch at Flour & Butter Cafe before the high tea session, I chose t-Lounge by Dilmah since none of us had been before. Sister is more of a tea person than coffee. So, t-Lounge by Dilmah would be the ideal venue for her in my opinion.

I didn’t have any picture of t-Lounge by Dilmah but the place is nicely decorated with a great ambiance. There were 7 of us altogether. 4 of which were the ex-classmates of Sister and Jennifer. I am the odd one out. I thought of killing time by watching drama series on my iPad but it would be rude.

Ceylon Young Hyson Green Tea | B$5.50

Most of us are familiar with the Dilmah teabags sold in the local retail supermarkets. However, the Dilmah teas available at t-Lounge by Dilmah are the premium ones. These teas are brewed under a specific water pH for maximum quality.

You will be served with a tea set and a timer. If you want a strong tea, leave the tea to brew in the pot for five minutes. The timer provided at the side will be an indication of how long the tea had been brewed.

Marvelously Milky Iced Tea | B$5.90

a pulled tea, served chilled and frothy, this brew brings the Finest Single Region Ceylon Tea together with rich condensed milk, offering a marvelously dreamy concoction served on a bed of ice

Mushroom Bruschettas | B$5.00

sauteed mushroom, vegetarian

Jennifer ordered this and paired with their recommended Ceylon Young Hyson Green Tea. We didn’t have any of it but it looked good. To be honest, the cafe smelled nice of hot food like waffles and toasts.

Verdict: All in all, I am quite impressed with the dedication of one of their male serving employees who attended to us the other day. There were 7 of us and everyone placed orders for different food and drinks. He remembered all of them without having to write them down. When serving, he explained all details patiently like what’s the best brewing time for different teas and whatnot.

Unfortunately, the serving time had been inconsistent. The Mushroom Bruschettas which Jennifer ordered like half an hour before we were leaving. We were there for almost two hours and a half. Another tea was only served at least half an hour after all the other teas were served. However, I think they were understaffed that day. There was only a staff who manned the entire servicing part from taking order to serving.

I’m not sure if I would be returning anytime soon given the serving speed that day. I am hoping that the management would do something about it.
