Of Random Things #169: D24 Durian McFlurry

After our dinner at Kobe Sushi in Miri last Tuesday evening, we walked to Boulevard Shopping Complex for grocery shopping. Despite I just had dinner not long ago, I was craving for Bubble Pearl Milk Tea and I got my fix at Tea Box located on the ground floor of the shopping complex.

As I was drinking my Bubble Pearl Milk Tea, I came across the advertisement of D24 Durian McFlurry by McDonald’s. I got up and bought Mom one. She loves anything Durian. So, it is easy for me to know what she would love for desserts.

D24 Durian McFlurry | RM8.99

I didn’t have any of it if you are wondering how it tasted like. It wasn’t made out of artificial flavoring (for sure) but real durian flesh. Mom commented that the soft serve wasn’t very sweet but the durian puree was. So, it made the entire McFlurry extremely sweet. She couldn’t finish the whole thing due to the sweetness.

Let me share with you a little bonus! As I was waiting for Mom to come out from the washroom at Boulevard Shopping Complex, there was a mascot walking around with an escort entertaining kids. The mascot saw me fishing out my camera and it posed for a picture. LOL!

26062018 / Thiam Hock Restaurant

After meeting Ing at Flour & Butter Cafe last Tuesday afternoon, Mom and I headed to The Mall as I needed to pay for our household telephone bill. I didn’t have any place in mind for dinner as I had already tried out most of the food places that I was interested. The ones left which I haven’t tried probably wouldn’t suit Mom’s taste bud.

Mom wanted to eat rice for dinner since she had eaten her fair share of noodles for the day. LOL! Off we went to dinner at Thiam Hock Restaurant located within walking distance from The Mall. We had our dinner as early as 6PM and there was no other diner in the restaurant as we walked in. In came a group of students transported by a tour bus shortly after.

Sweet & Sour Pork | B$5.50

Sweet & Sour Fish | B$5.50

Mom and I ordered a rice dish each respectively. She initially suggested that we order an ala carte to share but I thought it might be costly than ordering individually. She had Sweet & Sour Pork while I had Sweet & Sour Fish. I had been eating quite a bit of pork recently. So, I ordered fish for a change.

I liked that the fish fillets weren’t frozen dory fish fillets. Most of the non-Halal restaurants in Brunei use catch of the day for their fish dishes. All in all, we were okay with our choices of dinner but agreed that the gravy was too sweet for our liking.

26062018 / Shi Wei Tian Kopitiam, Kiulap

My colleagues and I went Shi Wei Tian Kopitiam in Kiulap for breakfast last Sunday morning. Having tried their Red Kolo Mee, I decided to bring Mom last Tuesday for lunch. As mentioned in my previous entries, Mom is always a noodle person at any time when asked to choose in between noodles and grains.

The restaurant wasn’t very crowded at the time we walked in. It started to fill up with lunch crowd 15 minutes after we were seated. Thankfully, we were early or else we might have to sit outdoor with the heat and all that.

Red Kolo Mee | B$2.50

I didn’t know what to order so I decided to order the same thing as Mom. This had been my second after my visit last Sunday morning. Mom commented that the noodles weren’t cooked enough and dry. She further commented that the tossing sauce for the noodle was too salty for her liking. All in all, I am okay with the texture of the noodle but I do have to agree with Mom about the sauce.

Of Random Things #168

I just realized that I will be traveling to Singapore next Friday. How time flies! It will be a long weekend trip to Singapore whereby I am flying in on Friday and coming back on Monday. There wasn’t much itinerary planned for this trip but I had shortlisted a couple of eateries to try out while I am in Singapore.

I planned to get to a new laptop as my current one is crashing soon. I didn’t thought about getting it from Singapore until Jennifer reminded me that electronics are cheaper in Singapore and I could claim for tax refund from the airport on the day of flying back. I contemplated whether to get MacBook Air or HP.

I had been wanting to get a MacBook Air for years but the internal storage capacity is very limited for me. I could get a HP notebook for the same price but with triple the amount of internal storage capacity offered in a MacBook Air. Having browsed multiple brands online, I am about 90% sure of which notebook to purchase but I need to see the item physically myself before purchasing.

Anyways, there hadn’t been much new Korean drama series to download recently but Mainland ones.

Sweet Dreams

My Story for You

My Fairy Girl

Mengfei Comes Again

Historical Mainland production is never my thing but I am downloading it because I think Mom would love it. I had watched a fair share of the said drama teasers on YouTube and it was pretty hilarious in my opinion.

Love Won’t Wait

I know I had previously mentioned about downloading this said drama series in my previous blog entries. I only managed to complete downloading the entire series this morning. The links which I had been using previously doesn’t seem to provide enough seeds.

To be honest, I didn’t have high expectation on this drama series but I had watched a few episodes in between and it was acceptable. My colleague who had watched this did mentioned that it was good ending but rather sad.

26062018 / Flour & Butter Cafe

Mom and I bumped into Ing while we were having lunch at Shi Wei Tian Kopitiam in Kiulap this afternoon. So, we made plan to meet for coffee later in the afternoon when she had completed her errands.

We met at Flour & Butter Cafe as I thought it might be easier for her to locate since she knows where LeApple Bakery & Mart is. It turned out that she only had a rough idea of the location but still managed to arrive at the cafe ahead of me.

Flat White | B$5.00

Green Tea Latte | B$5.50

As usual, I contemplated between a coffee and non-coffee beverage. No prize goes to the one who got the answer right. LOL! Mom didn’t know what to order so I got her Flat White. She was afraid that she might be suffering from insomnia at night. But apparently, it wasn’t the case as she had hit the sack as I am typing this. LOL!

Carrot Cake | B$4.90

It had been a while that I craved for Carrot Cake and I had finally gotten it fixed. My last piece of Carrot Cake before this was at Gloria Jean’s Coffees with Jennifer some time last month. I liked that the cream cheese frosting was tad thinner this time round but with distinctive taste of cinnamon.
