After meeting Ing at Flour & Butter Cafe last Tuesday afternoon, Mom and I headed to The Mall as I needed to pay for our household telephone bill. I didn’t have any place in mind for dinner as I had already tried out most of the food places that I was interested. The ones left which I haven’t tried probably wouldn’t suit Mom’s taste bud.
Mom wanted to eat rice for dinner since she had eaten her fair share of noodles for the day. LOL! Off we went to dinner at Thiam Hock Restaurant located within walking distance from The Mall. We had our dinner as early as 6PM and there was no other diner in the restaurant as we walked in. In came a group of students transported by a tour bus shortly after.
Sweet & Sour Pork | B$5.50
Sweet & Sour Fish | B$5.50
Mom and I ordered a rice dish each respectively. She initially suggested that we order an ala carte to share but I thought it might be costly than ordering individually. She had Sweet & Sour Pork while I had Sweet & Sour Fish. I had been eating quite a bit of pork recently. So, I ordered fish for a change.
I liked that the fish fillets weren’t frozen dory fish fillets. Most of the non-Halal restaurants in Brunei use catch of the day for their fish dishes. All in all, we were okay with our choices of dinner but agreed that the gravy was too sweet for our liking.
