28082018 / Flour & Butter Cafe

It had been a month since I last been to Flour & Butter Cafe. I usually visit the said cafe like twice in a month to fulfill my craving for Chai Tea Latte or Carrot Cake. LOL! As I was craving for some sweets after dinner at Pureland Vegetarian House, San Diann and I headed to Flour & Butter Cafe. There was something new from the cafe which I was intrigued to try.

If you had been following my Instagram account, I am pretty sure you would have known what it was. And yes, it was their Iced Green Tea Latte with an added shot of espresso! I don’t usually order coffee beverage but the combination intrigued me.

Without further ado, let me show you how does the Iced Green Tea Latte with an added shot of espresso looked like (for those who had not seen it on my Instagram). LOL!

Iced Green Tea Latte with Espresso | B$5.90 + B$1.50

For your information, this is not something which they had printed on their menu but it is available upon request. According to the staff, this has been one of the highly requested drinks ever since they posted it on their Instagram and I can see why it was so well received.

First of all, it was not as sweet as their regular Green Tea Latte. As you can see in the above picture, it came in three layers – matcha, milk and espresso. Do give it a thorough stirring before you take the first sip. It was Matcha at first and followed by the coffee taste lingering in your mouth. This is definitely well suited for Matcha and coffee fans out there whereby you get two of your favourite things in one!

San Diann was tempted to try their latest creation too but in hot. The staff informed him that they have yet formulated the beverage in hot. He was brave enough to go ahead and he got his wish granted.

Unfortunately, he was unable to taste the coffee in his Green Tea Latte despite the same amount of espresso shot poured in. He had been warned beforehand so no regret. LOL! His hot drink was served with a piece of Cranberry Oatmeal and Chocolate Cookie.

Tiramisu Crepe Cake | B$4.90

There weren’t much cakes available that night and the only cake among them which I have yet tried was this Tiramisu Crepe Cake. I loved the distinctive coffee flavored cream fillings sandwiched in between the crepes’ layers. The crepe layers weren’t very thin but ain’t thick either. Despite I loved the coffee flavored cream filling, I find it rather too heavy for me. If you love coffee, do give their Tiramisu Crepe Cake a try.

I am hoping that I get to try their Green Tea Crepe Cake next time. I had it years ago when they had just introduced it into their cake menu but I was unable to taste the green tea in it and I would like to give it another try when available.

Of Random Things #183

Having blogged so much about food in the past weeks, it’s time to take a break from all the food entries. But be warned, it’s not going to be a long break. Most likely to be an extremely short break. LOL!

Anyways, I had finally completed watching Lawless Lawyer and started on Wok of Love just recently. A friend had been asking me if I had started watching Meteor Garden 2018 as she knew that I had been downloading the said drama series. Well, I am waiting until it finishes airing before I start watching it.

28082018 / Pureland Vegetarian House

It has been a while since I last sat in Pureland Vegetarian House for a proper dinner. I had been going to Pureland Vegetarian House on every Sunday morning for the past two weeks. Mom has been away for holiday and Dad chose to go on a full vegetarian diet while she is away. I chose to have dinner at Pureland Vegetarian House yesterday evening so that it would be convenient for me to order takeaway as breakfast this morning.

San Diann who just came back from Kuala Belait (KB) decided to join me for dinner on short notice. He thought that I would be going to The Mall for Chips & Dips as that was what I had been saying since morning. True indeed but changed my mind when I thought of the horrendous traffic jam in Gadong given that it’s payday time of the month.

As it wasn’t first or fifteenth day of the lunar month, the restaurant wasn’t at all busy. We sat down, browsed through the menu, ordered and our food came served promptly. Without further ado, let me show you what the both of us had for dinner yesterday evening!

Fried Minced Meat Kolo Mee Pok | B$2.00

San Diann was surprised to know that his bowl of noodles only cost him B$2 each. According to him, he loved the texture of the noodles. They were chewy enough for his liking. The flavoring sauce was done adequately and well balanced. Instead of being served with mock Char Siu, his was being served with fried minced meat made out of soybean. He didn’t like the texture of the fried minced meat though. They were crunchy for his liking.

Claypot Crispy Mee with Tomato Sauce | B$4.00

I on the other hand went for a heavier meal compared to him. The portion was so big that I think it could have fed two just fine. The noodle was served with a variety of greens and several pieces of mock chicken. The tomato sauce base could have been better if tasted more sour. The texture of the noodle loosened up quickly when you toss them with the sauce.

Additionally, I had also ordered Fried Rice with Ham as takeaway for Dad but requested no frozen mixed vegetables.

26082018 / Geo Eats

This is our second visit to Geo Eats this month. The reason why we returned to Geo Eats a week after our last was their Matcha Cake Lava. We were disappointed that it was unavailable last week. Thankfully, it is available this week.

I messaged Geo Eats via Instagram and they told me that it will be available on Sunday. The person who communicated with me asked if I would like to reserve a piece and I agreed without hesitation! I wouldn’t want my trip to Jerudong go in vain. It’s not near for me to travel to Jerudong if you may ask. LOL!

Without further ado, let me show you what we had for lunch today. It was a late lunch as my manicure and pedicure session started late. Thankfully, our food were served shortly after we were seated as we had pre-booked our dishes prior to arriving.

Watermelon Crush | B$4.00

watermelon blended with lychees & mint

Geo Eats’ Spaghetti & Meatballs | B$8.00

spaghetti cooked with Alfredo sauce and served with baked ground beef meatballs

San Diann had this for himself as I don’t eat beef. According to him, the baked ground meatballs were good. They were well flavored and ain’t dry at all. The pasta was overly generous in my opinion and he was unable to finish the whole thing.

3-Type Mushrooms on Toast | B$8.00

shiitake, enoki & oyster mushrooms cooked with shallots, on toast and served with vegan cheese

I ordered this for myself as I wanted to try something off their vegan menu. My first choice was Ratatouille with Couscous but I was afraid that I might not like it. So, this 3-Type Mushrooms on Toast sounded the safest.

The mushrooms were nicely sautéed with shallots, scattered on top of two slices of multigrain (or wholemeal) bread and topped with their vegan cheese sauce. My personal favorite of this dish was the vegan cheese sauce. I loved the consistency. It was smooth but not overly creamy and it didn’t taste too cheesy. The level of cheesiness was just perfect in my opinion. However, I think this dish would carry off better if served on sourdough toast instead.

Matcha Lava Cake | B$6.00

Now here comes the reason of our second visit in a month. As mentioned above, both San Diann and I were bummed when we found out that Matcha Lava Cake was unavailable on our last visit. The dessert was plated beautifully, dusted with powdered sugar and few slices of strawberries.

However, it would have been perfect if it was served without the ramekin like the Salted Caramel Chocolate Lava Cake which we had last week. I wasn’t able to take a decent shot of the oozing lava and these were my best attempts.

The cake had a denser texture but slightly crunchy top and filled with overly generous lava on the inside. Sweetness level, it was a lot better than the Matcha Brownie from the other day. Matcha tasted strong in my opinion with slight bitterness in it. I wouldn’t say it tasted bittersweet as there was more sweetness than bitterness in it. All in all, this was a decent Matcha Lava Cake!

I wouldn’t mind returning again for it but I am hoping that it will be served without the ramekin so that I could take pictures of the oozing lava effect. LOL!

11082018 / Pullman Kitchen, Miri

Our Premium Deluxe Room came with complimentary breakfast for two. We could have our breakfast at the Executive Lounge but the choices might be limited. So, off we went for breakfast at Pullman Kitchen instead. We woke up early and freshened up ourselves a bit before heading down for breakfast.

As it was still early, there weren’t many guests at the time. We were being ushered to a table for four and were being asked if we would like brewed coffee or tea. Sister got Earl Grey Tea for herself while she got me Latte. The latter tasted odd and I personally find the Local Kopi provided nearby the Egg Station fared a lot better than the brewed Latte.

Without further ado, let me show you what are their varieties at the breakfast buffet spread!

They serve Danish pastries and one of them being the common Cinnamon Roll. What caught our attentions was the pastry next to Cinnamon Roll. It was a Danish pastry but topped with Longan. I didn’t try any of it as I was on a full Jain vegan diet that morning.

And they have doughnuts too if you are interested. The doughnuts looked tempting but they were for my eyes only that day. LOL!

They had something extra this time round and it’s the gluten free section. It’s catered for guests with wheat or gluten intolerance. Choices were limited but sufficient in my opinion.

Sister took two of the muffins to try and they were too dry for her liking. Gluten free food is never tasty in my opinion. The last picture showed how the Gluten Free Chocolate Muffin looked like on the inside.

This is the cereal section. They have the kid’s favorite – Koko Krunch, Honey Star and cornflakes. They serve walnuts, raisins and sliced almonds for toppings. Despite the Koko Krunch was displayed without a cover, they didn’t turn airy.

They had mini steamed red bean buns if you wanted something Chinese. It tasted good enough but sweet from the filling.

“Goreng” Corner is literally translated as deep fried corner in English. They had Cucur Sayur (Vegetable Fritter) and deep fried toast. I don’t remember what was the name of the deep fried toast but it was cinnamon sugar coated. Quite good I must say but you must love cinnamon to like it.

I think my personal favorite from the buffet spread was their half boiled egg. The eggs were perfectly done to the kind of runny egg yolk consistency that I love. As I just had laser treatment on my skin the day before, I had my half boiled eggs without light soy sauce but white pepper powder and it was still good!

These were some of the dishes to go with the Nasi Lemak. Instead of regular battered fried chicken, they serve Ayam Berempah (Spiced Chicken) which Sister commented was dry for her liking.

They served Bread Pudding with Vanilla sauce. I took a small portion for myself and I could barely manage a few bites before surrendering completely. The Vanilla sauce was overly sweet in my opinion. I should have been more lenient with the Vanilla sauce in the first place. LOL!

This particular salad dressing caught my attention while I was snapping pictures. I wonder how Cocktail dressing taste like. Fruity? Has anyone tried it?

So, this basically summed my breakfast buffet experience at Pullman Kitchen. The buffet spread is extensive enough in my opinion. They also have the noodle section which isn’t in the pictures above.
