San Diann and I had a foodie meetup with @dafoodenthusiast last Tuesday evening. We actually planned on Food House Eatery in the first place for their Nasi Lemak Istimewa but @dafoodenthusiast wasn’t keen on rice dishes and wanted to have noodles or bread instead.
He asked me to give him suggestions but my places for wok fried noodles are usually non-Halal restaurants. I then suggested Flour & Butter Cafe as they serve decent pastas and sandwiches in my opinion and there was a particular dish which I had wanted to try for myself since my last visit with San Diann.
Zucchini Pesto with Cauliflower Patties | B$10.90
served with pumpkin puree
This was the dish which I had wanted to try from Flour & Butter Cafe after being told that it is a Keto diet friendly dish. It contains no wheat and well suited for vegans as well. The dish was served with a small jug of pesto sauce which could taste a bit overwhelming for some. I quite liked the sauce as I like basil myself. I even dipped some fries into the pesto sauce.
Instead of having pasta, they substituted it with zucchini. The texture was soft but not soggy. The cauliflower patties sat underneath the zucchini was the highlight of the dish. It was smooth and had a natural sweetness from the cauliflowers. It was nice eaten on it’s own or paired with the pumpkin puree. The portion was slightly smaller than what I had expected to be honest and it definitely wasn’t meant for sharing if this is your own food for the meal.
Mac & Cheese Burger | B$14.50 + B$1.50
double beef patties (100g each), breaded macaronis with coffee or regular fries
As I am trying to control what I eat, I told them both to order what they want. @dafoodenthusiast ordered Mac & Cheese Burger and added B$1.50 for blue cheese. We had regular fries over the coffee fries as I personally find the latter nothing much to rave about. I like my fries plain and simple.
San Diann personally thought that the beef patties were alright but I could say that he wasn’t a fan. @dafoodenthusiast on the other hand liked it better than San Diann. He commented that the beef patties were nicely done and well seasoned. However, the blue cheese tasted subtle for him.
Soft Shell Crab Croissant Burger | B$10.50
This was the second dish which they ordered. San Diann had told me earlier that he wanted to try their Soft Shell Crab Croissant Burger. The dish was served with a piece deep fried soft shell crab in a halved croissant. Underneath the deep fried soft shell crab laid a sunny side up.
I tried a small part of the soft shell crab and personally find it tad dry for my liking. The sauce which I assumed to be their chili crab sauce was good and paired well with both soft shell crab and fries. San Diann preferred Soft Shell Crab Croissant Burger and vice versa for @dafoodenthusiast.
Peanut Butter Blackforest Cake | B$5.90
We ended the meal with a sweet treat. I let the two of them choose what they wanted to have as I had tried majority of the cakes available on that night. San Diann had also tried majority on his previous visits to the cafe with me. @dafoodenthusiast chose Peanut Butter Blackforest Cake in the end. I loved the soft and spongy chocolate cake and the cherries that came with. It is one of my favorite cakes of theirs.
