11012019 / Food House Eatery

I had been busy with work recently and finally having a breather. LOL! I haven’t been blogging as religiously as before but I would try my best to keep up with my previous routine.

San Diann, @dafoodenthusiast and I met up at Food House Eatery earlier this month to try their Nasi Lemak Istimewa. The both of them met up at Fleur-de-lys for stuffed donuts before Food House Eatery. Sad to say, they didn’t get what they went for as stuffed donuts are only available on every Wednesday.

Teh Tarik India | B$1.20

I wanted something hot to drink the other night. So, I ordered myself a Teh Tarik India. I have to say I prefer the Teh Tarik India from other Indian restaurants. The one I had at Food House Eatery wasn’t smooth enough in terms of consistency. I had also requested for less sweetness.

Stirfry Radish Cake | B$3.50

@dafoodenthusiast who had never tried Stirfry Radish Cake before wasn’t keen when San Diann and I agreed on ordering this. However, @dafoodenthusiast later agreed that it wasn’t as bad as he thought after he gave it a try.

I liked that the radish cakes were pan fried with crispy edges. The sambal paste wasn’t strong and I would very much prefer if it was spicier? Having said so, this was definitely one of the good ones that I had tried so far.

Steamed Salted Egg Custard Buns | B$2.80

We ended up with two baskets of this due to some miscommunication between us and the waitress. So, the three of us had two each. As I had been trying to remove wheat from my daily food intake, I felt the discomfort of the side effects later in the evening after having them.

So, this was how the Steamed Salted Egg Custard Bun looked like on the inside. The bun was soft and fluffy. The amount of salted egg custard wasn’t much in my opinion. It would be much nicer if the salted egg custard came with a more fluid consistency.

Chicken Siu Mai Dumplings | B$2.50

Century Egg Dumplings | B$2.50

Salted Egg Crystal Dumplings | B$3.20

@dafoodenthusiast who is a big fan of anything salted egg wanted to give this a try. I honestly didn’t find anything special of this particular dim sum. The salted egg wasn’t very fragrant and tad overcooked for my liking. As you can see in the above picture, the dumpling skin wasn’t see through clear but slightly thick.

Now that I am coming to an end of this blog entry, you must be wondering where was the Nasi Lemak Istimewa that I mentioned earlier in the post. Sadly speaking, they ran out of the Lemak rice. The waitress mentioned that they serve with ordinary plain white rice if we want. What’s the point of a Nasi Lemak when you have no Lemak rice?

@dafoodenthusiast was pretty bummed at that point as nothing seems to be going his way that evening (food aspect). Both him and San Diann went to Fleur-de-lys for Salted Egg Doughnut and only to find out that it would only be available on every Wednesday. We went Food House Eatery because he was keen of their Nasi Lemak Istimewa and you know the story.
