I had been slow and infrequent with blog updates recently to the extent that San Diann commented about it. LOL! I had been slightly busy with work before Chinese New Year hence the lack of updates. I do have food to post about but I will keep this blog updated as much as I could.
I would be flying to Kota Kinabalu (KK) tomorrow afternoon for a three days escapade. I am not sure what to expect as some eateries may still be charging extra during this festive season. Some had even asked why did I chose to go KK during CNY as most of the Chinese eateries would be closed or double charge if they are open. Hence, that explained why I chose to fly in on the third day of CNY.
Anyways, two days before our Company’s event, I went for dinner on my own at Citis Square. I wanted to try Ayam Lepaas but it wasn’t open that day. I was craving for spicy food at the time. I ended up sorting out my dinner at Pondok Sari Wangi as the said restaurant is known for serving Indonesian cuisine in the Sultanate.
Nasi Goreng Jakarta | B$6.00
signature fried rice with fried chicken
I wanted to order their regular Ayam Penyet but was being told that they ran out of chicken whole leg and they only had chicken breast left. I wasn’t keen on the latter so I decided to go for their Nasi Lemak Jakarta.
Imagine my surprise when I saw that my Nasi Lemak Jakarta was served with a piece of chicken whole leg. The overall portion of the dish was big and the fried rice alone could feed me at least three meals. The fried chicken was well done and the juiciness was maintained.
The sunny side up was perfectly done to my liking with oozing egg yolk when you poked onto the yolk. The dish came with a side of their signature chili sambal. It was tad spicy but it would be nicer if spicier.
