November, December & January Empties

As promised, here comes my update on skincare products rather than the usual food or baking blog entries. The reason why I am compiling the empties of three months together rather than the usual two months was that I could not remember when I emptied most of them. Anyways, most of my empties here were repeats as I have a few holy grail products nowadays.

It is rare that you see me having repeating empties as I am never a stickler when it comes to skincare products as I love trying out new products. But I had been having a few holy grail products since a year ago when I find that they work wonders on my skin. So, I decided to incorporate them into my skincare routine on permanent basis.

Without further ado, let me show you my empties for November, December and January!

Kose Sekkisei Lotion | RM260

This has been my holy grail toner for two years or so. I had lose track of how many bottles of this toner I had used so far. I had used a few other brands of toners but none of them were as good as this. This toner contains a higher level of alcohol compared to other toners in the market but my skin felt okay with it albeit I have quite a sensitive skin.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief | RMB272

This product is currently my holy grail daytime moisturizer. I am currently on my second tub of this product and I am also planning to get another tub from Shanghai Pudong International Airport next month. It gave my skin the right amount of moisture and hydration, leaving it feeling soft and supple after application. It absorbs well onto my skin and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling heavy even after I applied a layer of sunscreen.

Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment | RM190

I bought this eye cream after heavy introduction of Origins products on anti-aging by Sister. She had been using Origins eye creams for quite some time for pre anti-aging. This is one good pot of eye cream as it is minimally scented and works good enough to what it claimed to be.

But unfortunately, the product is not available nearby and I preferred Artistry Youth Xtend Enriching Eye Cream for the same performance but fared better.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturing Primer | B$65

This has also been my holy grail for more than a year. It took me approximately half a year to finish a bottle of 15ml. I had never liked this product at first but fell heads over heels in love with it when I found the right dose to use on my face.

To be honest, this product is unlike other skincare products whereby you will see results after weeks or months of usage. For your information, this product gives your skin a protective layer against the dry and cool air from the air-conditional or dirt/dust around you from getting into your skin directly.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil | B$24.90

This is a good bottle of cleansing oil but it is not something which I would consider purchasing again. It has a nice floral scent but it is the after feeling which I did not like about the product. It cleanses the skin very well but you could still feel oil residue on the skin albeit rinsing them off with lukewarm water and the only way to get rid of the oil layer is by further cleansing the skin with your usual facial cleanser.

Skincare Routine – Evening

After having updated my daytime skincare routine, I am here with my skincare routine during the night after a day of work or leisure. An evening skincare routine is important to our skin as we do not want to bring the dirt that our skin picked up during the day to sleep. And therefore, it is important to incorporate double cleansing in your evening routine.

I know there are some friends of mine who couldn’t be bothered, especially those who do not wear makeup. To be honest, I still find double cleansing important whether you apply makeup or not as you do not know what dirt did your skin picked up during the day. And even if you do not use makeup, I am assuming that you may have at least slabbed some sunscreen onto your face before leaving the house. Isn’t that true? LOL!

What difference in my evening skincare routine compared to my skincare routine during the day is that I incorporate a cleansing oil and a night cream instead of the moisturizer I use during the day. Anyways, enough of the ramblings. Let’s get this rolling, shall we?

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil | B$24.90

I have yet reviewed about this product as I had only started using it couple of evenings ago. I had decided to keep the remaining of my Bioderma Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire for use the next time I go on a holiday.

I like the scent of this cleansing oil but not so much on the feeling that it left on my skin after rinsing off the cleansing oil. I felt that there is still a layer of oil on the surface albeit the number of times I rinsed them off with lukewarm water. The feeling only vanished after I washed my face with my usual facial cleanser.

Kanebo Impress IC Refining Face Wash | RM100

This is my current facial cleanser, both during the day and night. I don’t have a separate facial cleanser to use like some other beauty bloggers do. This is a good facial cleanser but it kinda tightened my skin on the first few washes but it got better eventually. It leaves my skin soft and smooth after wash now.

Kose Sekkisei Lotion | RM260

Need further introduction of this holy grail toner which I had been using religiously for the past year or so? For those of you who had used this product before, I am sure you will know why I am still sticking to the product. And if you haven’t, you should try. This is one of the best toner which I had used by far.

Kose Sekkisei Eye Cream | RM175

This is my temporary fix for eye cream until I got hold of my Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Moisturizing Eye Cream. I had this with me for quite some time already. I requested a friend of mine to get it for me from Miri but I ended up not using it till it finishes as it does nothing much on my skin as compared to Artistry Youth Xtend Enriching Eye Cream or Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution | RMB349

I use the same essence/serum both day and night. Perhaps that was the reason why it has been running out so quickly compared to before. I had bought a new bottle of Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence about a month ago. I was thinking of switching back to that after finishing this. But I remembered a friend of mine whom once told me that it is better to use something more hydrating after finishing a bottle of whitening serum.

And therefore, I am planning on starting my new set of Artistry Hydra-V series. I am sure Ing will be pleased to know that as she had been pestering me whether I had started using the new range since the day I bought the products. LOL!

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Night Cream Combination | RM193

This is my current favorite night cream in which I had even asked my colleague to get me another tub from her aunt when she is returning to Kuching at the end of this month. You know that I am never a stickler with skincare products unless they are really good! This night cream doesn’t come with a nice scent as compared to Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Cream Dry but it isn’t unpleasant either.

The texture is creamy and it absorbs well onto my skin. Now that I am sleeping in an air-conditioned room, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling heavy after application. I know that some night creams are too heavy for the skin especially if you are not sleeping in an air-conditioned room.

Laneige White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack | B$45.90

This is an add on product which I don’t use very often but I am thinking of using it on daily basis starting from tonight. I got this at staff price from an acquaintance of mine whose sister is working for Laneige at the moment. It is suggested in the product manual whereby a capsule is for twice usage. But I personally find it to be rather heavy on my skin. It is neither greasy nor oily but just heavy.

So, I ended up splitting the capsule into four portions and finishing up each capsule in within four days. The product smells great, just like Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence. I am pretty sure that this product pairs great with the mentioned essence. So, I am thinking of leaving the remaining 8 capsules for use when I am starting on their Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence.

This pretty much sums up my evening skincare routine. You will realize that I use less skincare products during the night as I don’t want my pores to be clogged up with multiple kinds of skincare products. So, a toner, eye cream, serum and night cream are more than enough. And a treatment product when I feel like it.

Skincare Routine – Day

Hello there! I had been watching beauty videos on YouTube since yesterday evening and I especially love those videos which feature about their skincare routine, be it day or evening skincare routines. So, it tempted me to create a blog entry on my skincare routine during the day followed by an evening skincare routine some time later. I had blogged about this previously. Do click here, here and here if you are interested to know about my previous skincare routines.

The reason why I am separating both day and evening skincare routine is because I don’t want to confuse and bore you all. And most importantly, it is way easier to do two posts rather than one by compiling everything in all and looks as if they are in a jumble sale or whatsoever.

Enough with the ramblings and let’s get started, shall we?

I apply more skincare products on my face during the day as there will be sun exposure especially when you will be staying outdoor most of the time. I will be listing my daytime skincare products in sequence so that it is easy for me to write them down and easy for you to understand.

Kanebo Impress IC Refining Face Wash | RM100

I am currently using this facial cleanser which I bought from Parkson, Miri couple of months ago. It smelled floral to me and lathers well enough for my liking. It did tightened my skin at the first few washes but it got better after a few more washes. I am pretty satisfied with this facial cleanser but I am not sure if I would spend another RM100 for a facial cleanser though. It is good but not good enough to go into my holy grail skincare products list.

Kose Sekkisei Lotion | RM260

I am sure a lot of you had known this product by now. It is my holy grail toner for almost a year and a half. I was previously using Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Softener but I can’t see much effects of it on my skin after two bottles. So, Sister suggested that I try this Kose Sekkisei Lotion. I followed as suggested and I was instantly hooked up.

Albeit I am currently on my don’t-know-how-many-bottles of this said toner, I am still pretty satisfied with the results that it showed on my skin. But of course, there are the times when I switch to another toner when I felt that my skin is too dry or sensitive to use this toner. For those of you who had never tried this toner, you could always give it a try. I am sure you will love it.

Kose Sekkisei Eye Cream  | RM175

I am currently back to my Kose Sekkisei Eye Cream as I am already running out on my Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment. I had placed an order for Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Moisturizing Eye Cream with my colleague’s aunt. So, I will just make do with my “old” eye cream in the meantime.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution | RM349

After applying the eye cream, I will proceed on with either an essence or a serum. It actually depends on what essence/serum that I am using at that point of time. It is rare that you will see me sticking to the same essence/serum all the time as they usually run out of it’s effects on my skin on my second bottle. So, I would switch to another new product and then come back to it again some time later.

I had been using this product for a month and a half and I am running low on it already. It helps with brightening up my skin complexion but not so much on my dark spots though. It smells of lavender which is quite therapeutic. Honestly speaking, I did not like the smell in the beginning but growing to like it after a few usages.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief | RMB272

I had bought a second pot of this product when I was on my way back to Brunei from Shanghai Pudong International Airport last September. I use this as my daytime moisturizer as it is not heavy or greasy on my skin. It makes a perfect combination when paired with my sunscreen of the day.

This moisturizer can also be used during the night if you require extra hydration on your skin. But I would prefer a night cream on my evening routine as it helps in providing enough “oil” to the skin to do the repairing job while you are sleeping. According to Shet Fui, it is advisable to incorporate a night cream into your skincare routine as it can slow down the aging process.

Kose Sekkisei Sun Protector N SPF50+ PA+++ | RM118

I got this sunscreen quite some time ago but I rarely use it compared to my favorite Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA+++. But I had been alternating the usage between this sunscreen and the one from Shiseido lately. The good things about Kose sunscreen over Shiseido sunscreen are the size and the price. This sunscreen comes in the size of 60ml, which is 10ml extra compared to Shiseido sunscreen. And the retail price is cheaper than Shiseido.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturing Primer | B$65

The last step of my daytime skincare routine is this product! I am on my third bottle of the said product. When I first bought it, I hated it. Why? Because it left my skin super greasy and oily. And guess why it happened? Because I went overdose with the required dosage per application. How stupid was I? LOL!

So, the ideal dosage per application is the size of a red bean. As I am not using makeup, I use this product after my sunscreen. It helps in providing a protective barrier on top of all the skincare products which I had just applied.

We are mostly staying in an air-conditioned room 24/7 given the weather that we have here in Brunei. The wind released from the air-conditional can dry out our skin and this product acts as a protective layer to block the cool wind from getting into our skin and minimize the damages.

So, this basically sums up my daytime skincare routine. What about yours? Do share!

September & October Empties

Sorry for the late update of my September & October Empties, that’s if there is anyone of you looking forward to it. LOL! Anyways, I am supposed to update this entry on the first few days of this month but laziness got the better of me and I ended up only doing it today. I had only gotten round to take the picture of my empties yesterday evening after work and they were all finally in the trash can when I was done with the picture taking. Not really satisfied at how the pictures turned out but it doesn’t matter.

So, here we go with my September & October Empties …

Artistry Intensive Skincare Advanced Skin Refinisher | RM160

I started using this essence/serum after I had finished my Elizabeth Arden Visible Whitening Melanin Control Day Essence. It usually takes me one and a half month to use up a bottle of 30ml essence/serum given that I am using it on regular basis – day and night. For those of you who have yet heard of Artistry, it is a skincare home brand of Amway.

This product is formulated for pore minimizing, even out uneven skin texture and minimizes imperfections. The product smells nice as it is formulated with five different kinds of natural extracts. What I like about this product is that it gives a matte touch after application and a soft finishing look.

Eversoft skinz Youth Recall Deep Action Micro Cleansing Oil | B$9.40

This was one cleansing oil which took me only three weeks to use up a bottle. I think it was by far the fastest finishing full size bottle of cleansing oil which I had ever used. This cleansing oil comes with a soft floral scent but thicker oil texture compared to majority cleansing oils in the market. The texture is almost similar to Kanebo Blanchir Superior Oil Cleansing but tiny bit lighter.

I like the size as it is convenient to bring around when you are traveling if you couldn’t find a sample size cleansing oil to bring with you. And it has a lock cap whereby you are unable to remove it from the dispenser. In short, the lock cap will stay there permanently. All you need to do is give a little push on the lock cap to lock the bottle. Don’t worry about the lock cap getting loose or whatever as it is extremely secure and tight.

Shiseido AquaLabel Cleansing Liquid | RMB78

Rather than a cleansing oil, this is more like a bottle of cleansing gel. The liquid is in the form of gel and it cleanses well enough leaving the skin soft and smooth after wash. It doesn’t have a floral scent but it reeks of alcohol to me. Albeit this product perform well on my skin, but it is not something which I would want to purchase again as I do not like the scent at all.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Brightening Mulberry Ultra Foam Cleanser | RM31.90

Bought this from Watsons, Miri couple of months ago as I had taken fancy into foam cleansers like the ones from Biore. It smells fruity of mulberry. To be honest, I did not like the said product during the first few usages as it left my skin feeling a little bit tight but the tight feeling was replaced with soft and smooth skin after a few washes. It doesn’t break out on my skin, which is good.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Whitening Melanin Control Day Essence | B$130

Jia was shocked when she found out the price of this product when she was reading my blog couple of months ago. Well, this has got to be the second most expensive bottle of whitening serum compared to Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum+ which I bought for RM430 a bottle for the same size!

Albeit the steep price, this is by far one of the best whitening serum which I had used. But of course, I had also found a few inexpensive ones and yet worked as well as the expensive ones. It managed to brighten up my skin complexion and the scar marks were less visible after using the said product. It comes with a pump and squeeze dispenser for easy discharge of the liquid. It smells good and leaves a soft and velvety feeling to the touch.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Whitening Melanin Control Night Capsules | B$140

I bought this product at the same time with the above mentioned. The only difference between this and the above mentioned is that the above mentioned is for day use while this is for night use.

It is suggested one capsule per day but it took me two days per capsule. I find using one capsule per application is a little bit too heavy on my skin. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily but I just felt that it was too much on my skin. And it was also suggested by Shet Fui, BA of Elizabeth Arden that I can use twice per capsule as long as it is stored in a hygienic place.

July & August Empties

I almost forgot to update the empties for the month of July and August until I was blog-hopping and it suddenly struck my brain that I have not done so. But never mind, I am here to do it now. Ever since I started doing empties blog entries, this is the first time whereby I had the most empties in within two months. I am never a stickler when it comes to skincare products and I like to alternate between skincare products, hence it’s quite hard for me to have lots of empties in within a short period.

A bottle of skincare product normally lasts me about four months to approximately half a year apart from cleansing oils, facial cleansers and my holy grail Kose Sekkisei Lotion. Majority of my empties in within these two months are the sample sized facial cleansers which I bought from BestBuy-World Malaysia last year. Speaking of which, I think I still have two tubes of sample sized facial cleansers from Lancome and Clinique which I have not used.

Without further ado, let me show you my empties for the months of July and August!

Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser | RM130

I bought myself this facial cleanser not long after I found out it was released in the market. There were several factors which I liked about this facial cleanser. One of them was that it smelled very nice. LOL! But the fragrance might be tad bit strong for those of you who doesn’t like overwhelmingly scented facial cleanser. The cleanser is very gentle on the skin and it lathers extremely well as well.

Kose Sekkisei Lotion | RM298

I was rather bummed that I did not get two bottles of this in the first place as Kose does not release this limited edition size very often. I think it was about twice in a year only. According to a relative of mine, Kose is a lot cheaper in Taipei than Malaysia. KinG went Taipei last July and he was already back to Brunei by the time I asked him if he could bring some back for me.

Za Deep Cleansing Oil | RM27.95

This is one good bottle of cleansing oil if you are looking for something good and effective but inexpensive. It managed to cleanse my skin well enough without getting breakout the next day. Unfortunately, this bottle of cleansing oil is not available in Brunei and the nearest town where I could get it is Miri.

Biore Facial Wash Pore Shrinking | RMB?

I will give an update of the price once I got hold of the exact price as I couldn’t remember how much Sister got it for me from China. This is an inexpensive bottle of facial cleanser and it comes in foamy texture rather than the usual creamy or gelish paste. The foam was extremely fine and smooth. It gives a cooling effect on your skin when you rinsed off the foam with lukewarm water.

If you are wondering if it was good enough in terms of pore shrinking, I am afraid to say that a facial cleanser alone is not enough to help in reducing pore size. I could see that my pores are noticeably smaller at the time when I was using this facial cleanser but I doubt it was the effect from the cleanser as I was using Artistry Intensive Skincare Advanced Skin Refinisher at the same time.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturing Primer | B$65

A holy grail skincare product in my daytime skincare regime. A bottle of this product contains only 15ml but it managed to last me about four months. I had even stocked up another two bottles of this from an aunt of my colleague since I am able to get special price from her.

Shiseido The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam | Free

I don’t usually use this facial cleanser at home but I always bring it with me when I am traveling. I decided to bring it out to use last month when my skin was suffering from mild breakouts and my other facial cleansers don’t seem to work that well with my skin condition at that time. This facial cleanser however was gentle enough and the breakouts got better eventually.

Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal Refreshing Gel Cleanser | RM49

I bought this from Yves Rocher counter at Parkson, Pavillion in Kuala Lumpur (KL). Yves Rocher is only available in certain few cities of Malaysia. It is available in Sabah but unavailable in Sarawak. This cleanser does not lather as well as other facial cleansers which I had previously tried but it cleanses the skin good enough without stripping skin moisture.

SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser | RM31 (20g)

An expensive facial cleanser but works on my skin well enough as it managed to cleanse my skin well and doesn’t strip skin moisture. It did not cause breakout on my skin either as I heard reviews from some friends that this facial cleanser broke out on their skin. So, I guess SK-II products are a hit or miss depending on individual skin.

Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Foam Cleanser/Purifying Mask | RM17 (30g)

This is one good facial cleanser for my skin as well and it can be used as a mask as well. I had never used it as a mask though as I find it wasteful. The facial cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth after rinsing and it doesn’t strip skin moisture as well. And it smelled wonderful too!

So, this basically summed up my empties for the months of July and August.
