Evening Skincare Routine 2017

Evening skincare routine is my most anticipated skincare routine of the day especially when I feel my skin being oily and sticky after a long day. On the day when I had my first makeover for a wedding of a good friend at the end of last month, I was literally anticipating the moment I could remove all makeup even when I was still at the wedding dinner banquet.

The moment when I got my makeup all removed, the feeling was pure blissful. You may think that I am fully exaggerating. But for someone who pretty much has never had full make up on her face, makeup removal is probably her most joyous moment of the day. LOL! My first makeover experience was indeed a delightful one but I am just not used to having so much makeup on my face.

Instead of sticking to the same evening skincare products, I alternate them once in a while depending on my skin condition at the time. For example, I have three makeup removers and two facial cleansers in my bathroom at the moment. Despite that I have some holy grail skincare products, I love to try out different brands of makeup removers.

Before we start, I would like to insert a little bit of disclaimer here. As mentioned in my previous morning skincare routine blog entry, what works on my skin may not necessarily works the same on yours and likewise. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Shiseido SENKA Perfect Gel | RM18.90

The reason why I bought this was that I was intrigued to try out all versions of makeup removers from Shiseido SENKA and this turned out to be one of the disappointing ones in my opinion. It was the texture which I didn’t like and it leaves a grease-like layer after rinsing. I remembered having Shiseido SENKA Perfect Liquid previously and it didn’t live up to my expectation either. However, Perfect Gel is better than Perfect Liquid in my opinion.

Shiseido SENKA Perfect Watery Oil | RM29.80

This is one of my current favorite makeup remover as it comes in a floral scent which I love. It can be heavily perfumed for those of you who like mildly scented or non-fragrant makeup remover. I have yet tested this product with makeup but it removes sunscreen, dirt and grimes off my skin very well. Best of all, it leaves my skin feeling all soft and supple after rinsing.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water | B$12.60

This is my go-to makeup remover whenever I am feeling rather lazy after a long day of work. To be honest, I went through a phase whereby I am being totally obsessive over micellar water to the extent that I bought quite a few of them all at once. Speaking of which, I think I have at least four or five bottles of them unused.

Just so you know, I don’t use all three of them at the same time in my evening skincare routine. I choose one to use depending on my skin condition at the time. Like I mentioned earlier on, I have three bottles of makeup removers which I alternate the usages.

Shiseido SENKA Perfect White Clay | RM15.30

Kose Sekkisei Medicated Lotion | S$83

Need I say more? This is my holy grail toner which I never fail to stock up whenever I depart from Singapore Changi Airport. I like it even more that it comes in a dispenser bottle. It is convenient as you do not need to lift the bottle and uncap to pour the desired amount.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Eye Cream | RM233

I am not being very specific with my eye cream. However, I do wonder if I should get a much potent one for night use. I had been following a YouTuber recently and she highly recommends innisfree Orchid Eye Cream. Perhaps I should get one of it and make this Lancôme eye cream for night use? Have anyone of you tried the eye cream from innisfree and what’s your take of the said product?

Laneige Clear C Peeling Serum | B$44.90

I bought this product about five months ago and I had been using it for approximately four months now. I used to use serum twice a day, both day and night. However, I had been using this once in a day since I started. Four months into using this serum, I still have at least half a bottle left. I can see that my skin has been improving  and my skin complexion looks much clearer nowadays.

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future Powered by Ceramide Night Cream | RM253

I find that my skin is more moisturized and hydrated using this at night before bed. I tried using Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream as my nighttime moisturizer before and I can see my skin peels a bit around the nose area. This is my second pot at the moment and I have a third one stocking up in my skincare drawer.

So, this summed up my current nighttime skincare routine. Do stay tune for more updates as I will have some skincare product reviews coming up shortly.

Morning Skincare Routine 2017

I used to blog quite often in relation to skincare products but it gets lesser and lesser nowadays. I am sort of running out of topic to blog about. So, I thought what about a blog entry regarding my current skincare products? It may sound boring to some but at least it makes up for a blog entry, right? LOL!

I will be doing two blog entries for this – morning and evening. Both my skincare regimes vary as I use different products during the day and night. My daytime skincare products are much lighter in texture than my evening skincare products. I tend to use heavier texture ones so that it keeps my skin moisturized throughout the night.

Here’s a bit of disclaimer before we start. The following skincare products work well on my skin but it doesn’t necessarily produce the same outcome on other skin types. What works for me may not necessarily for you and vice versa.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

Shiseido SENKA Perfect White Clay | RM15.30

This is my current daytime facial cleanser which I bought from Watsons, Miri two months ago. I like that it leaves my skin feeling and looking so clean after wash but it leaves my skin feeling tight after each wash. Despite so, it doesn’t give me any breakout to date but occasional ones when my time of the month is napproaching.

Kose Medicated Sekkisei Lotion | S$83

This never failed to be my holy grail toner of all time. I do switch to other brands of toners occasionally but they never lived up to my expectation as much as this one does. I don’t remember how I got to try this toner but I was sold and hooked once I did.

I had been using this toner for more than four years and counting. I usually stock this up from Singapore Changi Airport as it is unavailable in Malaysia as a regular product. I was informed by the BA that this size comes as a limited edition and they only have it like twice a year during sales? However, this piece of news was four years old. Do let me know if this size is now selling as a regular item at Kose in Malaysia.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Eye Cream | RM233

I bought this from Parkson when I was in Miri for the wedding of a good friend. My eye cream at the time – The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Eye Cream-Gel was hitting bottom. I looked for reviews and got myself this since the price tag wasn’t too steep for my budget. Mom thought that skincare products would be cheaper in Singapore than in Malaysia. Well, it is indeed true for some brands but Lancôme is surprisingly cheaper in Malaysia.

EDEEM Beauty Cream | RM132

EDEEM Beauty Cream is a product which my colleague highly recommended. It works like a beauty concealer or foundation. The consistency of the product is almost paste alike but smooth. You only need a small amount for the entire face. On my first usage, I went overboard with the dosage and it made my face looking all pale. Once I get the hang of it, it makes my skin looking quite naturally flawless as it manages to cover up my pores.

Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream | RM155

My all time favorite for gel based moisturizer used to be Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. However, I prefer Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream over Clinique’s once I started using it. I am currently on my second and I had stocked up my third on my last departure from Singapore Changi Airport.

I like that the consistency is good on my skin. The consistency is light and it gets absorbed onto my skin quickly, leaving a dewy effect look. This moisturizer works best as my daytime moisturizer but not moisturized enough as a nighttime moisturizer. I had used it as my nighttime moisturizer on a few occasions and I find it drying as I can see my skin peeling around my nose area the next day.

Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Wet Force | ¥244

I had tried multiple brands of sunscreens but my personal favorite is always the ones from Shiseido. I liked the consistency of Shiseido’s sunscreens as well as the finishing look after application. Most of the sunscreens from the other brands break out on my skin and they usually leaves my skin an oily look finishing after application. For those of you who had tried Shiseido’s sunscreens, I’m pretty sure that you would agree with me that their sunscreens are one of the best.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturing Primer | B$67

I had stopped using this product few months ago when I was being informed of being discontinued. I thought it was discontinued worldwide but it turned out to be only discontinued in Malaysia. I bought this from a clearance sales at a steal price. It was retailed at S$67 per piece in Singapore but I got two for S$30 only!.

Some had been asking me what’s so good about this product that I have never stopped purchasing it. The product is marketed as a makeup primer but I use this as a finishing product after the application of my daytime skincare products. I like that it leaves a matte finishing and all you need is a red bean size per application. I recommended this product to a colleague of mine and she liked it too.

So, this basically summed up my morning skincare routine. Evening skincare routine will come shortly.

November, December & January Empties

As promised, here comes my update on skincare products rather than the usual food or baking blog entries. The reason why I am compiling the empties of three months together rather than the usual two months was that I could not remember when I emptied most of them. Anyways, most of my empties here were repeats as I have a few holy grail products nowadays.

It is rare that you see me having repeating empties as I am never a stickler when it comes to skincare products as I love trying out new products. But I had been having a few holy grail products since a year ago when I find that they work wonders on my skin. So, I decided to incorporate them into my skincare routine on permanent basis.

Without further ado, let me show you my empties for November, December and January!

Kose Sekkisei Lotion | RM260

This has been my holy grail toner for two years or so. I had lose track of how many bottles of this toner I had used so far. I had used a few other brands of toners but none of them were as good as this. This toner contains a higher level of alcohol compared to other toners in the market but my skin felt okay with it albeit I have quite a sensitive skin.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief | RMB272

This product is currently my holy grail daytime moisturizer. I am currently on my second tub of this product and I am also planning to get another tub from Shanghai Pudong International Airport next month. It gave my skin the right amount of moisture and hydration, leaving it feeling soft and supple after application. It absorbs well onto my skin and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling heavy even after I applied a layer of sunscreen.

Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment | RM190

I bought this eye cream after heavy introduction of Origins products on anti-aging by Sister. She had been using Origins eye creams for quite some time for pre anti-aging. This is one good pot of eye cream as it is minimally scented and works good enough to what it claimed to be.

But unfortunately, the product is not available nearby and I preferred Artistry Youth Xtend Enriching Eye Cream for the same performance but fared better.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturing Primer | B$65

This has also been my holy grail for more than a year. It took me approximately half a year to finish a bottle of 15ml. I had never liked this product at first but fell heads over heels in love with it when I found the right dose to use on my face.

To be honest, this product is unlike other skincare products whereby you will see results after weeks or months of usage. For your information, this product gives your skin a protective layer against the dry and cool air from the air-conditional or dirt/dust around you from getting into your skin directly.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil | B$24.90

This is a good bottle of cleansing oil but it is not something which I would consider purchasing again. It has a nice floral scent but it is the after feeling which I did not like about the product. It cleanses the skin very well but you could still feel oil residue on the skin albeit rinsing them off with lukewarm water and the only way to get rid of the oil layer is by further cleansing the skin with your usual facial cleanser.

Skincare Routine – Evening

After having updated my daytime skincare routine, I am here with my skincare routine during the night after a day of work or leisure. An evening skincare routine is important to our skin as we do not want to bring the dirt that our skin picked up during the day to sleep. And therefore, it is important to incorporate double cleansing in your evening routine.

I know there are some friends of mine who couldn’t be bothered, especially those who do not wear makeup. To be honest, I still find double cleansing important whether you apply makeup or not as you do not know what dirt did your skin picked up during the day. And even if you do not use makeup, I am assuming that you may have at least slabbed some sunscreen onto your face before leaving the house. Isn’t that true? LOL!

What difference in my evening skincare routine compared to my skincare routine during the day is that I incorporate a cleansing oil and a night cream instead of the moisturizer I use during the day. Anyways, enough of the ramblings. Let’s get this rolling, shall we?

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil | B$24.90

I have yet reviewed about this product as I had only started using it couple of evenings ago. I had decided to keep the remaining of my Bioderma Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire for use the next time I go on a holiday.

I like the scent of this cleansing oil but not so much on the feeling that it left on my skin after rinsing off the cleansing oil. I felt that there is still a layer of oil on the surface albeit the number of times I rinsed them off with lukewarm water. The feeling only vanished after I washed my face with my usual facial cleanser.

Kanebo Impress IC Refining Face Wash | RM100

This is my current facial cleanser, both during the day and night. I don’t have a separate facial cleanser to use like some other beauty bloggers do. This is a good facial cleanser but it kinda tightened my skin on the first few washes but it got better eventually. It leaves my skin soft and smooth after wash now.

Kose Sekkisei Lotion | RM260

Need further introduction of this holy grail toner which I had been using religiously for the past year or so? For those of you who had used this product before, I am sure you will know why I am still sticking to the product. And if you haven’t, you should try. This is one of the best toner which I had used by far.

Kose Sekkisei Eye Cream | RM175

This is my temporary fix for eye cream until I got hold of my Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Moisturizing Eye Cream. I had this with me for quite some time already. I requested a friend of mine to get it for me from Miri but I ended up not using it till it finishes as it does nothing much on my skin as compared to Artistry Youth Xtend Enriching Eye Cream or Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution | RMB349

I use the same essence/serum both day and night. Perhaps that was the reason why it has been running out so quickly compared to before. I had bought a new bottle of Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence about a month ago. I was thinking of switching back to that after finishing this. But I remembered a friend of mine whom once told me that it is better to use something more hydrating after finishing a bottle of whitening serum.

And therefore, I am planning on starting my new set of Artistry Hydra-V series. I am sure Ing will be pleased to know that as she had been pestering me whether I had started using the new range since the day I bought the products. LOL!

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Night Cream Combination | RM193

This is my current favorite night cream in which I had even asked my colleague to get me another tub from her aunt when she is returning to Kuching at the end of this month. You know that I am never a stickler with skincare products unless they are really good! This night cream doesn’t come with a nice scent as compared to Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Cream Dry but it isn’t unpleasant either.

The texture is creamy and it absorbs well onto my skin. Now that I am sleeping in an air-conditioned room, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling heavy after application. I know that some night creams are too heavy for the skin especially if you are not sleeping in an air-conditioned room.

Laneige White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack | B$45.90

This is an add on product which I don’t use very often but I am thinking of using it on daily basis starting from tonight. I got this at staff price from an acquaintance of mine whose sister is working for Laneige at the moment. It is suggested in the product manual whereby a capsule is for twice usage. But I personally find it to be rather heavy on my skin. It is neither greasy nor oily but just heavy.

So, I ended up splitting the capsule into four portions and finishing up each capsule in within four days. The product smells great, just like Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence. I am pretty sure that this product pairs great with the mentioned essence. So, I am thinking of leaving the remaining 8 capsules for use when I am starting on their Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence.

This pretty much sums up my evening skincare routine. You will realize that I use less skincare products during the night as I don’t want my pores to be clogged up with multiple kinds of skincare products. So, a toner, eye cream, serum and night cream are more than enough. And a treatment product when I feel like it.

Skincare Routine – Day

Hello there! I had been watching beauty videos on YouTube since yesterday evening and I especially love those videos which feature about their skincare routine, be it day or evening skincare routines. So, it tempted me to create a blog entry on my skincare routine during the day followed by an evening skincare routine some time later. I had blogged about this previously. Do click here, here and here if you are interested to know about my previous skincare routines.

The reason why I am separating both day and evening skincare routine is because I don’t want to confuse and bore you all. And most importantly, it is way easier to do two posts rather than one by compiling everything in all and looks as if they are in a jumble sale or whatsoever.

Enough with the ramblings and let’s get started, shall we?

I apply more skincare products on my face during the day as there will be sun exposure especially when you will be staying outdoor most of the time. I will be listing my daytime skincare products in sequence so that it is easy for me to write them down and easy for you to understand.

Kanebo Impress IC Refining Face Wash | RM100

I am currently using this facial cleanser which I bought from Parkson, Miri couple of months ago. It smelled floral to me and lathers well enough for my liking. It did tightened my skin at the first few washes but it got better after a few more washes. I am pretty satisfied with this facial cleanser but I am not sure if I would spend another RM100 for a facial cleanser though. It is good but not good enough to go into my holy grail skincare products list.

Kose Sekkisei Lotion | RM260

I am sure a lot of you had known this product by now. It is my holy grail toner for almost a year and a half. I was previously using Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Softener but I can’t see much effects of it on my skin after two bottles. So, Sister suggested that I try this Kose Sekkisei Lotion. I followed as suggested and I was instantly hooked up.

Albeit I am currently on my don’t-know-how-many-bottles of this said toner, I am still pretty satisfied with the results that it showed on my skin. But of course, there are the times when I switch to another toner when I felt that my skin is too dry or sensitive to use this toner. For those of you who had never tried this toner, you could always give it a try. I am sure you will love it.

Kose Sekkisei Eye Cream  | RM175

I am currently back to my Kose Sekkisei Eye Cream as I am already running out on my Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment. I had placed an order for Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Moisturizing Eye Cream with my colleague’s aunt. So, I will just make do with my “old” eye cream in the meantime.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution | RM349

After applying the eye cream, I will proceed on with either an essence or a serum. It actually depends on what essence/serum that I am using at that point of time. It is rare that you will see me sticking to the same essence/serum all the time as they usually run out of it’s effects on my skin on my second bottle. So, I would switch to another new product and then come back to it again some time later.

I had been using this product for a month and a half and I am running low on it already. It helps with brightening up my skin complexion but not so much on my dark spots though. It smells of lavender which is quite therapeutic. Honestly speaking, I did not like the smell in the beginning but growing to like it after a few usages.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief | RMB272

I had bought a second pot of this product when I was on my way back to Brunei from Shanghai Pudong International Airport last September. I use this as my daytime moisturizer as it is not heavy or greasy on my skin. It makes a perfect combination when paired with my sunscreen of the day.

This moisturizer can also be used during the night if you require extra hydration on your skin. But I would prefer a night cream on my evening routine as it helps in providing enough “oil” to the skin to do the repairing job while you are sleeping. According to Shet Fui, it is advisable to incorporate a night cream into your skincare routine as it can slow down the aging process.

Kose Sekkisei Sun Protector N SPF50+ PA+++ | RM118

I got this sunscreen quite some time ago but I rarely use it compared to my favorite Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA+++. But I had been alternating the usage between this sunscreen and the one from Shiseido lately. The good things about Kose sunscreen over Shiseido sunscreen are the size and the price. This sunscreen comes in the size of 60ml, which is 10ml extra compared to Shiseido sunscreen. And the retail price is cheaper than Shiseido.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturing Primer | B$65

The last step of my daytime skincare routine is this product! I am on my third bottle of the said product. When I first bought it, I hated it. Why? Because it left my skin super greasy and oily. And guess why it happened? Because I went overdose with the required dosage per application. How stupid was I? LOL!

So, the ideal dosage per application is the size of a red bean. As I am not using makeup, I use this product after my sunscreen. It helps in providing a protective barrier on top of all the skincare products which I had just applied.

We are mostly staying in an air-conditioned room 24/7 given the weather that we have here in Brunei. The wind released from the air-conditional can dry out our skin and this product acts as a protective layer to block the cool wind from getting into our skin and minimize the damages.

So, this basically sums up my daytime skincare routine. What about yours? Do share!
