Skincare Buys #11

If you had been following my blog regularly enough, you would knew that I had recently returned from my holiday vacation in Singapore. Singapore is one of the countries which I would always stock up on skincare products as they are relatively cheaper and extensive choices as compared to Brunei. However, it is always cheaper to purchase from Malaysia due to the inflation of Ringgit Malaysia (RM).

Without further ado, let me show you what I had purchased from Singapore!

Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water | S$19.90

This is one of the latest introductions of Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. It is more expensive than the regular Micellar Cleansing Water. The highlight of this product is that the micellar cleansing water is oil-infused with floral fragrance. It is retailed at S$19.90 at Guardian, Singapore but an additional 20% discount will be given if you purchase two or more of the same item in a single receipt.

Bioderma Sensibio Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel | S$33.90

I found this product at Watsons first and bought it as I am quite a fan of Bioderma facial cleansers. After payment, I went over to Guardian located nearby to purchase Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water but only to find that they are selling this product even cheaper at 20% off. So, I returned to Watsons and requested for a refund and the Cashier asked me the reason for returning the said product. I answered in all honesty and said it was cheaper at Guardian. LOL!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water | B$6.10

I purchased this in Brunei prior to flying Singapore as I thought I would need a travel size makeup remover and this comes in just the perfect size. However, I ended up not bringing this with me to Singapore and brought Shiseido SENKA Perfect Gel instead. I like that it is handy in size but definitely not to be carried inside cabin luggage as it is exceeds the minimum 100ml policy.

fresh Soy Face Cleanser | S$21

innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Water | S$15.30

This was originally S$15.30 as stated above but The SHILLA was doing a promotion whereby you will get additional discount for purchasing two or more Korean skincare products. If my memory serves me well, I think it was 10% off for any two Korean skincare products and 15% for any three and above Korean skincare products.

Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream | S$44.70

Laneige Foam Cleanser Moisture_EX | S$23.10

I wanted to get Laneige White Dew Milky Cleanser but they were out of it. So, I got this instead. It was a value buy as I got additional 15% discount for purchasing more than two pieces of Korean skincare products.

Shu Uemura Brow:Sword | S$53

Shu Uemura Hard Formula | S$25.60

Before flying to Singapore, I asked Andrea what is her current favorite brand for eyebrow pencil that she would recommend. She recommended me Shu Uemura as it is longer lasting as compared to some of the other brands which she had used. As a matter of fact, she recommended me Hard Formula as it does not break easily. I am a fan of Lancôme Le Crayon Sourcils but the lead breaks easily when dropped. I dropped it once and the whole thing was damaged.

So, this summed up my skincare loots from Singapore. I am still considering if I should get myself another Lancôme Le Crayon Sourcils from Miri tomorrow. Despite that it broke easily when dropped, I liked the easy application as compared to Shu Uemura. The wonder of Shu Uemura Brow:Sword and Hard Formula is that color looked extremely soft and natural after application.

My Skincare Routine (Updated!)

WARNING! This is an extremely picture and word heavy post. You can stay if you don’t mind to be bored.

I have always wanted to do an entry about my skincare routine. But every time when I sit down in front of my computer and started typing away, I always stopped midway and never get to finish it in the end. Let’s hope that I can get it done this time.

I’ve only started a proper skincare routine a year and a half ago when I had a terrible acne breakout. I was using Biotherm Aquasource range back then when I just got back from UK. And when I ran out of supply, I did not bother to replenish them coz there is no Biotherm counter in Brunei at all and the nearest counter is in Miri, Malaysia. I was a broke fresh graduate back then with not much extra money to spare. When my skin condition got worse, I had no choice but to look for a proper skincare to cure my skin condition.

I intended to return to Biotherm back then but Biotherm is an American brand and using it in Brunei may not be as effective as compared to if you use it in countries with four seasons. Therefore, I went for Shiseido after hearing so many positive comments about their products. One of their most best-selling range is their White Lucent one, which is the one I am using now. But I did not started with their high end range when I first started using Shiseido. I started with their basic range which is formulated for acne prone and oily skin.

It costs me RM290 for their complete set of Pureness Foaming Cleansing Fluid, Pureness Alcohol Free Balancing Softener and Pureness Matifying Moisturizer Oil-Free. The improvements were visible and my skin had gotten better eventually. Acne doesn’t pop out as often as they used to be.

Let’s start, shall we?

Basic Routine

Makeup Remover – Kanebo Blanchir Superior Oil Cleansing (Night)

Not that I have any makeup to be removed at night. But our skin do pick up some dirt throughout the whole day and we ought to deep clean our face with deep cleansing oil. I was using Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil previously but I think Kanebo Blanchir Superior Oil Cleansing is a lot better. I can feel that my face is much more cleaner now. If you can still see yellowish stain on your cotton pad when you applied toner onto your skin, it means that either your cleansing oil is not that effective or you did not wash your face properly.

Makeup Remover – Shu Uemura Fresh Pore Clarifying Gentle Cleansing Oil (Night)

Bought this from Shanghai Pudong International Airport on my last China trip. It’s RMB168 per bottle, which is roughly about B$34. My Sister had once told me that Shu Uemura doesn’t cleanse as well as the other brands. But I decided to try it myself. Different people have different preference anyways. But I’ve to admit that my Sister might be right.

Cleansing – Laneige Multi Cleanser (Day & Night)

Love this cleanser more than my previous Shiseido Pureness Foaming Cleansing Fluid. It has a lightweight scent. And it doesn’t leave your skin feeling all tight and dry after washing. It’s texture is smooth and creamy, leaving your skin all smooth and bright after washing.

Toning – White Lucent Brightening Balancing Softener (Day & Night)

The one thing Shiseido is different from other brands for their toner is that they don’t call it toner but balancing softener coz it leaves your skin feeling soft after application. Shiseido’s softener has minimal alcohol content therefore it doesn’t sting your skin during application.

Moisturizing – Shiseido Pureness Matifying Moisturizer Oil Free (Day)

I don’t use this often anymore ever since I have upgraded my skincare to White Lucent range. What I liked about this moisturizer is that it is completely oil free and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky and greasy at all! And it could be used when your skin felt dry. I would usually slab some of this before Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Protective Emulsion SPF15 when my skin feels dry and needs some additional moisture. Ever since I ran out of my previous bottle of this, I did not bother to replenish coz I have got something equivalent to this. But my Sister got me this by mistake when she should have gotten me Shiseido Pureness Anti-Shine Refreshing Lotion from Hong Kong.

Moisturizing – Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Protective Emulsion SPF15 (Day)

Got this for S$78 from Robinsons, Singapore last year and I still have half a bottle left. I know SPF15 is not enough but it’s better than nothing. I do personally think that this emulsion is a little bit oily for my skin. But it did brighten my skin complexion over time. My Sister told me that it’s best to use Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion at night to achieve maximum result.

Moisturizing – Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Gel (Night)

I use this as my night cream. I don’t usually use cream type of moisturizer coz they make my skin even more oily. So, I would usually go for oil-free or gel type of moisturizer.

Extra Treatment

Pore Care – Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher

Sister got me this from Singapore Changi International Airport at S$108 for 50ml, which is a real bargain since it’s selling for B$158 in Brunei for the same size. I love how it leaves my skin feeling smooth after application and it absorbs better than my previous Laneige Pore Tightening Essence.

Pore Care – Laneige Pore Minimizing Pack

I would use this like twice in a week, that’s if I am hardworking enough. I liked how my skin felt after washing off the clay. My skin looks brighter and it felt so soft and supple! I had forgotten how much I got this for but it’s for sure more than B$40.

Pore Care – Shiseido Pureness Pore Purifying Warming Scrub

I would do a review on this product soon. Been using it for about three months. It felt warm on your skin when you gently massage onto your skin in circular movements. I bought this tube for RM85.

Skin Repair – Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repair Pack

I bought this tub of Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repair Pack when Laneige was having 20% promotion discount. Couldn’t resist any temptation. Partly because I have read so much positive comments about the product on the Internet previously. It is indeed a great product. Highly recommended!

Skin Repair – Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX

I only use this product like twice in a week when I am in the mood or when I feel that my skin gets a little bit dry. A little amount of Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX is more than enough to make your skin look all soft and supple the next morning. This is about B$45 at any Laneige counter across Brunei. But it’s less than S$30 if you are able to get it from Singapore Changi International Airport at their duty free shops.

Eye Care – Origins GinZing Eye Cream

Have only used this product for about two months and I found it to be good. The skin tone around my eye areas looked so smooth after application. And it works well to depuff puffy eyes. Couldn’t say whether it’s good to brighten up dark circles coz I don’t have dark circles myself.

Shiseido Pureness Blemish Targeting Gel

Got this because my previous Biotherm S.O.S Neutralizer dried out. Nothing much to rave about this product coz I think they were all the same.

Shiseido Pureness Anti-Shine Refreshing Lotion

I love this product a lot! It helps you reducing the sebum excreted throughout the whole day. But I cut loose on the dosage nowadays after I underwent intensive treatment of Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel. My skin ain’t that oily as it used to be anymore. If you wonder why I raved so much about Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel, you should read my review about it and the results after six weeks. Click here to read on my reviews about Artistry IRP and here for the results after six weeks.

Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum+

I used to say that my Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Gel was my most expensive items on my skincare list. And now, it had dropped to second place and took over by Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum+. It’s original retail price in Singapore is S$159 and RM430 in Malaysia, which is double the price of Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Gel. But Sister got this for me at a pretty good bargain!

Anyways, I shall conclude today entry with the skincare products that I use in order during the day and night.

Laneige Multi Cleanser
Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Balancing Softener
Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum

As you can see, I use lesser products at night to allow my skin and pores to breathe properly. Imagine the amount of time I spent on applying skincare every morning before I go to work.

This is all for now. Till then~~~
