29082017 / Little Audrey’s Café

It was Jia‘s birthday couple of weeks ago. We planned a weekend birthday trip to Miri with a group of friends but I could not make it on short notice due to work commitment. So, we made do with a belated birthday dinner this evening. She chose Little Audrey’s Café as she loves their salad options.

I picked her at 5PM from her workplace and we were both hungry at the time. I did not have tea break like I usually do when working. We headed straight to Little Audrey’s Café for dinner and surprised to find that the place was quite packed at such hour.

Without further ado, let me show you what we had for dinner this evening …

Power Salad | B$9.90

grilled chicken breast, poached egg, avocado, green apple, cherry tomatoes, fresh corn kernels and toasted walnuts on a bed of fresh greens; your choice of vinaigrette dressing or roasted sesame dressing

We both agreed that this was good and the portion could easily fill 2 pax. Jia requested for roasted sesame dressing. The grilled chicken breast was one of the good ones which I had tried so far. The texture was tender even for chicken breast. The toasted walnuts added crunch to the salad.

However, we both agreed that the amount of dressing was too overwhelming that it became heavy as we were almost finishing the salad. Jia commented that the dressing was rather thick in texture compared to a regular roasted sesame dressing. Perhaps they added mayonnaise? It would be nicer if the dressing came served separately rather than tossed in the salad.

Hawaiian Katsu | B$14.90

crispy chicken thigh fillet topped with chicken ham, pineapple, marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese, served with Japanese curry sauce, fragrant buttered rice and a sunny side up egg

I liked that they used chicken thigh to make this. The chicken thigh fillet was bread crumbed and fried to a crispy texture. The fried chicken thigh fillet was later topped with marinara sauce which made the chicken thigh fillet soggy on the crust.

What I loved the most of this dish was the Japanese curry sauce. It had the spicy kick which I absolutely love and it paired extremely well with the fragrant buttered rice. Despite I love their Hawaiian Katsu, I still think the pricing was rather steep.

It had been quite some time since we last took a picture together. As usual, I made do with the timer setting on my camera. One of the staffs was nice enough to come forward and offered to take the picture for us which I declined politely.

I do appreciate his gesture but my camera can be quite “cocky” at times when it refuses to focus. So, timer setting would be my best option and I could take multiple shots until I am perfectly satisfied with what I see. LOL!
