Review: V-Hotel Lavender, Singapore

As you all knew, I came back from Singapore couple of weeks ago. I was in Singapore for 4D3N with Sister. After some persuasion from my side, Sister decided to join me on a weekend getaway merely two weeks before. This weekend getaway served various purposes – relax, retail therapy, food hunting and catch up on Andrea and Patrick.

If you are interested in what I did while in Singapore, do check out my blog entries – Singapore 2016 (Part 1) and Singapore 2016 (Part 2). But allow me give you a heads up! Do not read them while you are feeling hungry as more than 80% of the pictures were food related. And if you love doggies, we had also visited We are the Furballs (WTF) in Bugis+.

Anyways, I do not have any picture of the lobby of V-Hotel Lavender. It was pretty small anyways. The standard check-in hour is 14:00 but the receptionist was kind enough to grant me an early check-in by an hour as my room was available. Sister has yet arrived at the time so the receptionist told me to leave her name so that she will issue her a room card upon her arrival, which is convenient for the both of us as I do not have to go down to the lobby to fetch her.

The location of V-Hotel Lavender is simply superb in my opinion. It is located above Lavender Station. Take Exit B when alighting from the station. Turn right when you are on top of the escalator and you will see various eateries as you walk by. There are McDonald which operates till 1AM, Old Changkee, 24 hours Kopitiam and a few more which I could not remember the name. There is also a bakery. Turn right again when you reach a stall selling Nasi Lemak. You will then see the lobby of the hotel.

The room is pretty small in my opinion. A lot smaller compared to my stay at Emerald Fragrance Hotel couple of years ago. But location wise, this is perfect as Emerald Fragrance Hotel looked pretty dodgy to me in some ways. It is only a few steps into the room from the room entrance. You will have a full length mirror on your right, perfect for OOTD shots. LOL!

I had forgotten to request for a twin bed upon check-in. So, Sister and I ended up with this double bed as per my initial request on Agoda. The pillow was soft but I did not use it during my stay. I had this neck and shoulder pain before going to Singapore. So, I resorted to using my neck rest to avoid further aches.

The room came with a 32″ LCD screen, in-house telephone, complimentary drinking water and 3 in 1 hot beverage sachets. However, the room came equipped with limited sockets. If you are a heavy gadget user, I would suggest you bring your own socket extension or perhaps request for one from one of the housekeepers? We did not request for one so we are not entirely sure if it is provided.

The room came with a wardrobe, equipped with a safe deposit box to safeguard your valuables and a mini bar fridge. Laundry hangers were provided but limited. So, I brought my own laundry hangers as I do not wish my dresses to crease in my luggage.

The bathroom, which is the smallest area of the room. I liked that they have a shower room cubicle rather than a bathtub albeit the same size. Do not expect big movement in the cubicle as there is not much space for you to maneuver around. If I had been in my previous body size, I think I would have grumbled about the size. LOL!

Bathroom came with two freshly laundered towels and a floor “towel” everyday. If you are used to having a facial towel, I would suggest you bringing your own as facial towel is not provided. Basic essential toiletries were provided and they were good enough.

Verdict: V-Hotel Lavender, Singapore is rated as a 4-stars hotel. Both Sister and I were a bit skeptical about the rating. The hotel is decent enough but more towards 3 stars instead of 4 stars. In terms of location, convenience and accessibility, it is definitely 4 stars. But on other aspects, hmm …

There are quite a few eateries nearby. There is Kitchener Complex right in front of V-Hotel Lavender where they have Toast Box, Burger King, Porn’s, Yogurt Shop and a few more which I could not remember. If you do not mind walking, there are also a few famous brunch cafes nearby namely Chye Seng Huat Hardware, CreatureS and Antoinette. Fairprice is just a stone throw away from V-Hotel Lavender.

Room rate is approximately S$145.67 inclusive of GST and service charge. I booked for a non-refundable room lest I would have cancelled this reservation and moved to another hotel. Sister did told me to cancel this reservation so we can stay in another fancier hotel. Unfortunately, this is a non-refundable room which I paid for.
