On our first night in Miri, I brought Mom to Cake Rush for desserts and met up with Alan too at the same time. I do not feel like going far so I asked him to meet us there instead. It took him quite some time to find the cafe as he was not familiar with the surroundings.

Opera for myself and Rose Baked Cheesecake for Mom. I had a few dessert choices in mind but they were unavailable at the time. I wanted to try Green Tea Opera, Watermelon Rose Cake and Pavlova. Pavlova was not recommendable for me as it might be too sweet for my liking so I went ahead with Opera instead.

Brought Mom back to Cake Rush again on the next day as I needed to collect some stuffs to bring back for my colleagues. As promised, they served Watermelon Rose Cake on the next day. We ordered a slice to share as Mom was still feeling full from our breakfast earlier on at Sin Yakin.

Watermelon Rose Cake had been a trend nowadays. I first saw it over Instagram shortly after I returned from Singapore earlier this year and had been since intrigued to try. Watermelon Cake was available at Beanery & Co. on my first visit but the presentation was not appealing enough so I passed trying it out.
What’s so special about this Watermelon Rose Cake was that there was a slice of fresh watermelon sandwiched in between layers of rose scented cream. The taste of rose was distinctive but it complimented the watermelon extremely well. Mom loved the cake and she mentioned that the watermelon was very sweet.
