Skincare Buys #23

I had finally went to collect the Shiseido sunscreen which I had requested a friend to get for me when he flew back from Singapore last weekend. We weren’t able to meet up before he flew back. So, he left the item at his relative’s shop and told me to collect it on my free time.

Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Hydrofresh | S$55

This was the sunscreen which I wanted to buy the other day but it wasn’t available at the Shiseido counter in Brunei. This product is almost similar to my previous sunscreen. However, this one comes with a cooling finishing. I can’t wait to try it out tomorrow morning.

Skincare Buys #22

Parents and I went to Miri on a day trip yesterday morning. We left from home shortly after 6:30AM and came home before 6:00PM. The journey to Miri was a smooth one. Despite it was a Sunday, there was no traffic at both checkpoints when leaving and entering Brunei. It was a rare sight to be honest ever since the inflation of RM.

Our first stop in Miri was 龙门客栈 for second round of breakfast as we had some at home in early morning. We headed to Bintang Megamall after breakfast as I wanted to get a sunscreen from Shiseido in Parkson.

Despite that I had requested my friend to get me one from Singapore Changi Airport, I wasn’t able to collect it on time and could only wait for another few more days.

Shiseido Clear Stick UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ | RM120

When I was browsing through the sunscreen options at Shiseido, the BA recommended me one of their recent launch of sunscreens in the form of stick. I tried it on my skin and it was good. What’s better is that it is convenient. You don’t have to use your fingers to massage them onto the skin.

Skincare Buys #17

As my previous blog entries had mostly been about food, I decided to give myself a break from all the food entries and update a few of skincare products’ reviews. Before we get onto that, allow me to show you my recent skincare buys first. LOL!

Shiseido White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream | RM220

As I mentioned in my previous blog entry, my current Lancôme Advanced Génifique Yeux Youth Activating Eye Cream is hitting bottom. Jennifer texted me the other day asking if I need to get anything from KL as she will be staying for two nights before flying back.

Her text message came at the right time as I was contemplating if I should ask Clara to get me this eye cream from Shiseido when she’s in Miri over the weekend. Having reviewed Lancôme Advanced Génifique Yeux Youth Activating Eye Cream earlier today, I came to realize that my dark circles are slightly more noticeable than it used to be.

innisfree Orchid Gel Cream | RM111

I didn’t get the both of them at the same time. The pot that I am currently using was from Singapore which Sister got me when she came home during Christmas last year. When Jennifer came across innisfree while shopping at Pavilion, she asked me if I still needed to get innisfree Orchid Gel Cream and I agreed.

These were the freebies which I got from my innisfree Orchid Gel Cream purchases. It came with an Orchid Eye Cream, Orchid Enriched Cream and Orchid Enriched Essence. Orchid Sleeping Pack is a free sample when Sister bought my first pot in Singapore.

Morning Skincare Routine 2017

I used to blog quite often in relation to skincare products but it gets lesser and lesser nowadays. I am sort of running out of topic to blog about. So, I thought what about a blog entry regarding my current skincare products? It may sound boring to some but at least it makes up for a blog entry, right? LOL!

I will be doing two blog entries for this – morning and evening. Both my skincare regimes vary as I use different products during the day and night. My daytime skincare products are much lighter in texture than my evening skincare products. I tend to use heavier texture ones so that it keeps my skin moisturized throughout the night.

Here’s a bit of disclaimer before we start. The following skincare products work well on my skin but it doesn’t necessarily produce the same outcome on other skin types. What works for me may not necessarily for you and vice versa.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

Shiseido SENKA Perfect White Clay | RM15.30

This is my current daytime facial cleanser which I bought from Watsons, Miri two months ago. I like that it leaves my skin feeling and looking so clean after wash but it leaves my skin feeling tight after each wash. Despite so, it doesn’t give me any breakout to date but occasional ones when my time of the month is napproaching.

Kose Medicated Sekkisei Lotion | S$83

This never failed to be my holy grail toner of all time. I do switch to other brands of toners occasionally but they never lived up to my expectation as much as this one does. I don’t remember how I got to try this toner but I was sold and hooked once I did.

I had been using this toner for more than four years and counting. I usually stock this up from Singapore Changi Airport as it is unavailable in Malaysia as a regular product. I was informed by the BA that this size comes as a limited edition and they only have it like twice a year during sales? However, this piece of news was four years old. Do let me know if this size is now selling as a regular item at Kose in Malaysia.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Eye Cream | RM233

I bought this from Parkson when I was in Miri for the wedding of a good friend. My eye cream at the time – The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Eye Cream-Gel was hitting bottom. I looked for reviews and got myself this since the price tag wasn’t too steep for my budget. Mom thought that skincare products would be cheaper in Singapore than in Malaysia. Well, it is indeed true for some brands but Lancôme is surprisingly cheaper in Malaysia.

EDEEM Beauty Cream | RM132

EDEEM Beauty Cream is a product which my colleague highly recommended. It works like a beauty concealer or foundation. The consistency of the product is almost paste alike but smooth. You only need a small amount for the entire face. On my first usage, I went overboard with the dosage and it made my face looking all pale. Once I get the hang of it, it makes my skin looking quite naturally flawless as it manages to cover up my pores.

Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream | RM155

My all time favorite for gel based moisturizer used to be Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. However, I prefer Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream over Clinique’s once I started using it. I am currently on my second and I had stocked up my third on my last departure from Singapore Changi Airport.

I like that the consistency is good on my skin. The consistency is light and it gets absorbed onto my skin quickly, leaving a dewy effect look. This moisturizer works best as my daytime moisturizer but not moisturized enough as a nighttime moisturizer. I had used it as my nighttime moisturizer on a few occasions and I find it drying as I can see my skin peeling around my nose area the next day.

Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Wet Force | ¥244

I had tried multiple brands of sunscreens but my personal favorite is always the ones from Shiseido. I liked the consistency of Shiseido’s sunscreens as well as the finishing look after application. Most of the sunscreens from the other brands break out on my skin and they usually leaves my skin an oily look finishing after application. For those of you who had tried Shiseido’s sunscreens, I’m pretty sure that you would agree with me that their sunscreens are one of the best.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturing Primer | B$67

I had stopped using this product few months ago when I was being informed of being discontinued. I thought it was discontinued worldwide but it turned out to be only discontinued in Malaysia. I bought this from a clearance sales at a steal price. It was retailed at S$67 per piece in Singapore but I got two for S$30 only!.

Some had been asking me what’s so good about this product that I have never stopped purchasing it. The product is marketed as a makeup primer but I use this as a finishing product after the application of my daytime skincare products. I like that it leaves a matte finishing and all you need is a red bean size per application. I recommended this product to a colleague of mine and she liked it too.

So, this basically summed up my morning skincare routine. Evening skincare routine will come shortly.

Review: Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Wet Force

Do you still remember that I mentioned about getting a Cervarix shot some time last week? The moment the needle was poked into my muscle, it was painful but bearable. The pain eased when the needle was taken out but there was muscle tension the next day on the spot where the injection was made. It had been more than a week since the vaccination took place.

It took me more than a week to realize that the swell had yet subsided. And yeah, I got a bump on the vaccine spot. It is not at all painful if you do not press on the bump. However, it feels itchy at times. Sister thought that it is best for me to return to the clinic for a consultation and she mentioned that I should have returned sooner. So, I am returning tomorrow evening and hoping that everything will be alright.

Anyways, I am not going to rant much about the swelling bit. Today’s blog entry will be a review of Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Wet Force.

Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Wet Force

If you had been following my blog long enough, you might have picked up that I am an avid fan of Shiseido’s sunscreens as compared to other brands. I had tried other sunscreens but none of them was as good as Shiseido’s in my opinion. Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Wet Force looked like it is an improved version of their previous sunscreens.

Not only that it comes with bigger SPF coverage than the one which I had been using, Shiseido claims that this is even more water resistant than ever to the extent that the sunscreen stays on even when in contact with water. Some worry that their sunscreen layer would come off with perspiration and whatnot. I only apply sunscreen once per day and no reapplication done throughout the day as I am lazy to do so. *guilty as charged*

Before I bought myself a full size bottle of this product, I was given a free sample size bottle when I was purchasing some White Lucent products some time last year. The consistency of the liquid is still the same as the ones before. It absorbs onto the skin quickly, leaving an almost matte finishing. What I love about this sunscreen is that it did not leave my face looking shiny or greasy as some did.

Most importantly, this sunscreen does not break out on my skin. Having used this sunscreen for quite some time, I like that my skin is not facing much pigmentation (yet) or skin darkening issue. The only downside of this product is however the price tag. Albeit the high price tag, I do believe that a good sunscreen is not what you should save on.

So, here’s what I think of Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA++++ Wet Force in a nutshell:

Pros:
1. Does not break out on my skin.
2. Absorbs onto the skin quickly and leaving an almost matte finishing.
3. No pigmentation or skin darkening issue (yet)
4. Not oily or greasy feeling after application.

Cons:
1. Price tag.

Overall Rating: 4.8 out of 5

Price: ¥244 (Pudong Shanghai International Airport)

Repurchase? Definitely!
